Just as the lesson was ready to begin there was a close lightning flash and a roll of thunder - then the skies opened up with a downpour. The study was on Psalm I - only six verses which brought a great deal of information. It is on the godly and the ungodly and what is in their future. Knox members at Londesboro service The Knox United Church congregation attended Londesboro United Church anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 11:15 p.m. There was no service at Auburn. The anniversary preacher was Rev. David Snihur who ministered at Auburn and Londesboro from 1983 - 1990. It was an excellent service with a junior choir, a full senior choir plus a beautiful gospel medley with Susan Van Egmond playing an alto saxophone. Barbara Bosman is the junior choir director and Gail Lear is the senior director with organists K. Szusz and A. Postma. Rev. Snihur's sermon was on "Be Still and Know that I am God." He MORLEY JOHNSON Morley Johnson of Fordwich passed away suddenly at Wingham and District Hospital, Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, in his 81st year. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie Johnston, loving father of Wayne and Ronna Lee Johnson of Gorrie, Barry and Stella Johnson of Alma, Lynn Tucker and Max Cor­ don of Cambridge, Brenda and Peter Tessel of Hesson and Brad and Sandy Johnson of Fordwich and the loving grandfather of nine grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was the dear brother of Carrol Johnson of Listowel, Hazel Cooper and Eileen Johnson of Waterloo, Leone Cameron of London and the late Claude. Rev. Jagger officiated at the Oct. 12 service at Betts Visitation Cen­ tre, Gorrie. Interment was at Fordwich Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rod Cameron, Murray Kirkby, Doug Cameron, Lome Mann, Gordon Mann and Doug Mason. Fordwich Masonic Lodge #331 AF&AM, conducted a memorial service Oct. 20. In remembrance, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke founda­ tion or the Fordwich United Church would be appreciated by the family. ISABELL WALSH Isabell Walsh of Mitchell, for­ merly of RR1, Belgrave, passed away, Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997 at Stratford General Hospital. She was 78. She was the beloved wife of Cameron Walsh of Versa Care Nursing Home, Sebringville, loving mother of Gwen Walsh, Ivan Walsh, Janice Walsh and Vem and Debbie Walsh, and the loved grandmother of Nicole and Craig Walsh. 1 Rev. Cathrine Campbell officiat­ ed at the funeral service, Oct. 24, held at Betts Funeral Home, Brus­ sels. Interment was at Brussels Ceme­ tery. In remembrance, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. ANNIE MARGARET COOK Annie Margaret Cook passed peacefully away Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997 at her home in Belgrave. She was 75. Miss Cook was a daughter of George and Ivy Cook. She was the dear sister of Elsie and Jim Walsh, Blyth; Florence McArter, Belgrave; Nora and Ben Huckinson, Callander; Muriel Bosman, Sault Ste. Marie; Mildred and Jim Paton, Mossley; Evelyn and Bud Smith, Regina, Sask, and Wes and Charlie, both of Belgrave. She was the sister-in-law of Loma Cook, Belgrave and Ray Green, Kincardine. Miss Cook was predeceased by a brother Norman, and sister Lois. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and friends and cousin Alice. She was a faithful member of Belgrave United Church and the UCW. Funeral services were held at the church with visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Rev. Mary Jane Hobden officiated. Carrying Miss Cook to her final resting place were six nephews, Gary McArter, Don Walsh, David Bosman, Richard Paton, Ron and Cam Cook. Flowerbearers were two nieces, Kathy Green and Donna Woollett. Interment was at Brandon Cemtetery, Belgrave. spoke of a Fellowship Group that is growing in the United Church and of its value. He spoke of the story of Jesus walking on the water as told in Matthew 14 and of Peter starling to walk to him and becoming frightened. Then Jesus, imme­ diately, reached out his hand and saved him from the treacherous sea. God can bring peace to all who come to him for it. Rev. Snihur said, "God is always with us." He closed with prayer. The closing hymn was Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah followed by the Benediction. The Hallelujah was the closing chorus. The congregation went down­ stairs and enjoyed a lunch served by Londesboro women.
