Gord Hunt
Councillor Gord Hunt, RR1,
Lucknow, is throwing his hat into
the ring for position of West
Wawanosh Twp. deputy-reeve.
Previously Hunt served six years
(two terms) as councillor in the
Twp. of Woolwich and three years
on the committee of adjustment
there.
After 12 years in municipal
politics, he says he still has an
interest and will commit time and
energy to the job.
Selecting the proper reeve,
deputy-reeve and council will be
important to addressing
amalgamation and legal issues. He
would like to see township's on
going legal issue resolved.

Neil Rintoul
Newcomer Neil Rintoul, RR2,
Lucknow, is running for a spot on
West Wawanosh council.
Rintoul feels that amalgamation
and environmental concerns are
important issues to be addressed
and a county or provincial policy
taken with regards to the latter. If
elected Rintoul said he would work
with others to resolve incidental
municipal issues and address
constituents' concerns. "I would try
to always look for the best possible
solution and try to keep our
township a desirable place in which
to live and do business.
Stuart Alton
Bob Hallam
Stuart Alton of RR2, Lucknow is
seeking his second term as West
Wawanosh Twp. councillor.
Alton says he expects this to be a
busy term for council with
amalgamation and on-going legal
problems.
The most important issue, he
said, is the downloading of services
by provincial government and its
affect on the township.
His personal goal is to be able to
hold taxes at a reasonable level
with the ramifications of
downloading.
Incumbent Bob Hallam, RR3,
Auburn, has been West Wawanosh
Twp. reeve for six years. He has
served three years on the planning
and social services and one year on
the strategic planning. He has also
sat on the com producers, soybean
and wheat boards.
Hallam believes his experience
will be an asset at county level. He
wants to keep a business-like
approach to government, to try and
keep services without raising taxes.
He believes municipal politicians
need to stand up to government to
get central management of
downloaded services. "If we pay we
have the say not Toronto."
He wants to see the line held on
taxes, keep local representation and
the municipality's identity.
Gordon Brindley
A self-employed Dungannon and
Lucknow businessman, Brindley is
seeking the position of reeve for
West Wawanosh Twp.
For Brindley, the most important
issue on the table is amalgamation.
"I would like to see us go with
Lucknow," he says.
His other goal is to see the
lawsuits against the township
settled.
He is a former deputy-reeve of
the township.523-4792 or 887-9114
Doug Miller
After one term as councillor,
Doug Miller, RR1, Lucknow, has
decided to run for West Wawanosh
Twp. reeve.
"I just believe it is time for a
change in leadership style to better
deal with the on-going challenges
we face."
Miller feels so strongly about this
that he sees leadership as the
important issue. "During the next
term we will be dealing with
restructuring, a manure bylaw and
on-going litigation among other
things. This will be best dealt with
by teamwork using open minds.
His personal goal is to find a
local answer to the question of
restructuring that will work well for
the foreseeable future.
Kevin Shiels
Kevin Shiels, RR2, Aubum, is
making a second bid for a seat on
West Wawanosh Twp. council.
Shiels ran in the previous election.
His reason for running again is
that he feels it’s important to
contribute to the community in
which you live.
He sees the most important issue
as amalgamation.
Walter Elliott
Incumbent Walter Elliott, RR1,
Lucknow, is seeking re-election as
West Wawanosh deputy-reeve. He
has served on council for three
years.
His reason for running is to help
look out for the long-term future of
the township.
He sees amalgamation as the
most important issue.
HULLETT TOWNSHIP
Cecil Cranston
A former councillor and reeve,
Cecil Cranston, RR2, Auburn, is
vying for a seat once again on West
Wawanosh Twp. council.
Besides his municipal
government experience, Cranston
has served on various farm groups.
He says he wants to bring
responsible leadership to the
taxpayers and believes the most
important issue for him is to bring
that leadership to them.
