in the Blyth Memorial Hall on Oct.
22. The Happy Gang Seniors from
Londesboro were guests. In all
about 75 sat down to a delicious
pot luck dinner.
Afterwards, President, Lawrence
Plaetzer called the meeting to order
which opened with the singing of O
Canada, with Phyllis Boak at the
piano.
The October birthdays were
Edythe Beacom, Mrs. Keith
Tyndall, Lome Hunking, Jack Lee
and Mary Walden. The president
announced the Christmas dinner to
be catered by the Ladies' Auxiliary
from the Legion is on Nov. 26 at
noon. The cost is $10. Have money

A lively sing-a-long followed,
led by Harv McDowell and Vera
Badley. The old tunes were enjoyed
by all.
Following this they called on a
band "without a name". They were
Arnold Bruce from Belgrave on
violin, Ron McBurney, Belgrave
on mandolin, Harv McDowell,
Blyth on violin and Arnold Cook,
Blyth with the spoons. They played
several toe-tapping tunes and
Phyllis Boak accompanied on
piano. This was also enjoyed.
Jean Nethery introduced the
guests, Mark and Bonnie Garner
from the Barbados to tell about the
mission work they are involved in.
Bonnie is the daughter of Ruth and
Tom Jardin of Blyth. Bonnie lived
in Kitchener and was interested in
‘the "Jacobs Well" ministry. Here
she met Mark and married later.
After much soul searching they
sold their home in Kitchener and
went to the Barbados where they
joined a group called "Youth With
a Mission". They have 10,000 full-
time workers and 25,000 volunteers
who serve in many countries. They
have established a training school
and their mission is to go out into
all the world and preach the gospel.
Mark is a very skilled counsellor
and along with Bonnie they are
doing very fine work.
Jean Nethery thanked them very
much and gave a donation from the
seniors.
The "no name band" favoured
again with three religious
selections. This closed the meeting.
Several draws were made and the
afternoon ended. All enjoyed a
good time.
