It was the Lodge's pleasure to have District Deputy President Bernice Ford of Exeter and her installing term present to install the officer for the next term. They also presented Laura Barbour with her Past Noble Grand Jewel. Officers installed were: Noble Grand, Lorraine Edwards; Vice Grand, Elva Brown; Secretary, Edna Pearson; Financial Secretary, Lois McCall; Treasurer, Joan Bernard; Warden, Betty Cardiff; Conductor, Rene Richmond; LS of Noble Grand, Lillian Moses; RS of Noble Grand, Jane Hall; LS of Vice Grand, Sarah Stephenson; LS of Vice Grand, Marion Young; Chaplain, Mary Elliott; Inside Guardian, Mae Ebel; Outside Guardian, Gertie Kellington; Musicians, Jean Ireland and Joyce Jacklin; Colour Bearer, Lois McCutcheon. The first euchre party was held T. Cardiff hosts WMS on Monday night, Oct. 20. Winners were: high lady, Isabel Craig; high gent, Doug Hemingway; low lady, Viola Adams; low gent, Bill Craig; most lone hands, Mary Huether and Jim Smith; lucky draws, Sarah Stephenson, Allen Edgar and Irma Brighton. Lunch was served after the euchre. Another euchre will be held in November. The date will be announced. Members are to remember to bring a gift for the silent auction to be held after the lodge meeting. Milestone Glenna Stephens of the Highland Apartments in Morris Twp, celebrated her 99th birthday with friends on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Mrs. Stephens and her husband moved to Brussels in the 1940s. Her husband, a doctor at Westminster in London, set up a practice in the village. The Stephenses had five children — Isabell is a nurse in Boston, Dorothy is a schoolteacher in Toronto, Glenna is a retired businesswoman, now a housewife in St. John, Russell is a dental professor at the University of Western Ontario in London and Jim is a surgeon in Kitchener. Though she now lives fairly quietly, Mrs. Stephens enjoys passing her time reading. Melville WMS met at the home of Thelma Cardiff for their regular meeting on Oct. 6. President Helen Elliott offered a prayer. The Thanksgiving programme as outlined in the Glad Tidings was followed by the members with Isobel Gibson and Marguerite Krauter reading the parts of voice one, and voice two. The hymn O Lord of Heaven and Earth and Sea was sung. The president led the programme beginning with prayer after the offering was received. Thelma Cardiff read the secretary's report and Ruby Steiss the treasurer's report in the absence of Leona Armstrong. Margaret MacLeod gave a very interesting report on missionaries in China. Also, she talked of other missionaries who have worked to spread the gospel. A hymn was read and Rev. Cathrine Campbell closed the meeting with prayer. Isobel Gibson and the hostess served lunch. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mary Huether on Nov. 10. Curlers change day Brussels Ladies' Curling Club held its meeting at the home of President Gloria Wilbee. The minutes and treasurer's report vere read by Velma Locking. The women changed their day from Tuesday to Monday because the arena could rent the arena Tuesday. The women are cleaning the upstairs kitchen at the arena on Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. Lunch and refreshments were served by the president. Anyone wishing to curl is welcome.
