HILDA VINCENT Hilda Vincent of Bray Lodge, Wingham, passed away in her 79th year at Wingham and District Hos­ pital, on Monday Oct. 13, 1997. Mrs. Vincent was the dear moth­ er of Marlene and Jim Taff of Lon­ don, Sharon Mitchell of Hanover, Wayne and Julie Vincent of Milton and Paul and Elaine Vincent of Burlington. She was lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Stanley and Leona Black of Belgrave and sis­ ter-in-law Dorothy Logan of Wing­ ham, and brother-in-law Harold and Edith Vincent of Belgrave. Mrs. Vincent was predeceased by her husband Leslie Vincent in 1992, her son-in-law Douglas Mitchell in 1990, her brother William Black in 1986 and her sis­ ter Marjorie in infancy. Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rev. Mary-Jane Hobden officiat­ ed at the funeral services held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in Brandon Ceme­ tery. Memorial donations to the Dia­ betes Association or the Alzheimer Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. ANNIE COOK Annie Cook of Belgrave, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997 at her residence. She was 75. Miss Cook was the dear sister of Elsie and Jim Walsh of Blyth, Flo­ rence McArter of Belgrave, Nora and Ben Huskinson of Callander, Muriel Bosman of Sault Ste. Marie, Mildred and Jim Paton of Mossley, Evelyn and Bud Smith of Regina, Wesley Cook and Charlie and Ruth Cook, all of Belgrave. She was the beloved sister-in-law of Lorna Cook of Belgrave and Ray Green of Kincardine. Miss Cook was predeceased by her parents, George and Ivy Cook, her sister Lois Green and her broth­ er Norman. There was no funeral home visi­ tation. Funeral services were held at Knox United Church, Belgrave at 2 p.m., Tuesday with Revi Mary- Jane Hobden officiating. Interment was at Brandon Ceme­ tery, Belgrave. Memorial donations to the Cana­ dian Cancer Society of Knox Unit­ ed Church, Belgrave, would be appreciated as expressions of sym­ pathy. GRETA LUELLA JANE (HYN­ DMAN) BENNETT Greta Luella Jane Bennett passed away peacefully at her residence in Gorrie on Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. She was 69. She was the beloved wife of William Alexander Bennett, who predeceased her in 1993. She was the loving mother of Ronald and Barbara of Gorrie, Roland and Donna of Seaforth, Dawna and Paul Voll of Gowanstown, Mar­ garet and Gerald Brewer of Gorrie and Kathleen and Harry Bulmer of Walkerton. Seventeen grandchil­ dren and two great-granddaughters are also left to mourn her passing. Mrs. Bennett was the dear sister of Allen and May Hyndman of Gorrie and sister-in-law of Dorothy Hynd­ man of Gorrie. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Beside her husband, Mrs. Ben­ nett was predeceased by a brother Harold Hyndman. Mrs. Bennett rested at Betts Visi­ tation Centre, Gorrie, from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday.*Rev. Brad Beale officiated at the funerals service, held at St. Stephens Anglican Church, Gorrie, Saturday at 11 a.m. Carrying Mrs. Bennett to her final resting place at Gorrie Ceme­ tery were Bob Bennett, Vincent Brewer, Jason Brewer, Mathew Brewer, Billy Joe Bulmer and Adam Bulmer. Flower bearers were Ronda Ben­ nett, Peggy Voll, Valerie Raftis, Pamela Bennett. In remembrance donations to St. Stephens Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family. ELIZABETH MARCELLA MCNALL Elizabeth Marcella McNall of Clinton and formerly of Blyth died in Clinton on Monday, Oct. 13, 1997. She was 82. Bom in Blyth on Nov. 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Plaetzer) Library celebrates special week Ontario Library Week, Oct. 20 - 26, is an annual opportunity for Ontarians to celebrate the contribution made by libraries to the lives of millions of people across the province. The theme for this year's Ontario Library Week is Ontario Libraries, Pushing the Limits! On one hand, Ontario's libraries face increasing challenges to maintain current services, as well as pressure to offer new ones, in an environment of changing political structures, declining tax support and increased emphasis on fundraising. On the other hand, libraries face unique and exciting opportunities provided by new technologies, such as Network 2000. Network 2000 is a strategy to eventually create a 'virtual' provincial library for all Ontarians, including those in rural and small communities. It will help libraries provide access to the multimedia information resources on the information highway by means of high-speed links between public libraries, provincial public service information resources and services, and the global information infrastructure. Using this network, libraries will offer new, innovative information services, reduce costs associated McLean. She was married to the late Wellington McNall. Mrs. McNall was a retired postal clerk. She was an adherent of the United Church. Mrs. McNall was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Clinton Chapter #266 and the Blyth Legion Auxiliary Branch 420. Mrs. McNall is survived by her children, Donald McNall of Barrie, Cheryl Grigg of Clinton and Brian and Bonnie McNall of Oakville. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Marion McNall of Barrie and her son-in-law Murray with information search, retrieval and dissemination, and increase the efficiency and productivity of library-based information services. Network 2000 buildings on existing library networks and will establish new forms of information access and sharing across the province. Libraries are playing an ever more crucial role in meeting the information, education and cultural needs of communities across Ontario. During the past year, the 17 branches of the Huron County Library have experienced a number of highlights worth celebrating. In a typical week in 1996, 5,310 people visited a library in Huron County, borrowed 9,033 items, asked 844 reference questions, and used 1,741 items in the library. During 1996, 33,239 people had a Huron County Library card and they used it to borrow 419,623 items. A total of 6,101 bulk loans were made to nursing homes and teachers. Children and adults enjoyed attending Storyhours, Book Clubs, Summer Reading programs, and many more special activities, al their local branch for a total program attendance of 10,335. The Huron County Library system loaned 1,796 items to other public libraries in Canada, while borrowing 2,206 items for the use of its patrons. Internet access at the library has been a very popular new service with Huron County residents.
