By Heather A. Elliott
On Oct. 1 the Senior boys' and
girls' soccer teams were taken to
Huron Centennial to play some
serious soccer. The soccer

them were beat.

Courtney, Devin Shannon, Justin

games, but showed they were not
Teddy Bears by winning one game
and receiving fifth place. The boys'
team lost three games, and, by
baring their teeth, won two games,
which placed them in fourth
position.
A special thanks to Rose deBoer
for helping out with both senior
teams.
Way to go, Bears!!
GROCERY TAPES = $$$$$$$$
By Taylor Hesselwood
So fat this year, the Blyth Public

The Brussels Public School staff
is in charge of having the cross
country run every year! A big
thanks goes to Mr. Teall for taking
over Mr. Prior's old job and to
Madame Anguish for motivating us
for the run.
In other news, Grade 1 is making
a book about what they are thankful
for. They had a Thanksgiving treat
too, popcorn! First, they had to
guess how many kernels were not
going to pop. They made a holder
for the popcorn out of a milk carton
decorated to look like a turkey. The
Grade Is surely had fun with that!
Grade 5s are enjoying their new
purchase educational software.
Last year BPS earned $250 from
the collection of these tapes. The
money was put towards buying a
scanner.
We are strongly encouraging all
students to bring in their tapes this
year. We hope everyone will
participate.
The students at Blyth Public
School want to thank these stores
for their participation in this
program.
THE TOWER
By Katelyn M. Linner
Everyone has been wondering
why that tower is located in the
comer of our schoolyard. Well, it is
for the internet. It will make the
internet faster and more efficient to
access.
The north satellite dish sends a
signal to F.E. Madill Secondary
School, which in turn transfers
these signals to the Wingham
Public School. The south satellite
dish relays signals from Clinton to
Blyth.
Large steel plates have been
installed on the sides to discourage
children from attempting to climb
this tower.
So long for now! I'm going on
the internet to look for some
information for my project in
Canadian studies!
ASSEMBLY ABOUT THE
THREE R'S
By Alicia Marshall
On Oct. 2, the students of Blyth
Public School gathered in the
auditorium to learn about the three
Rs - reduce, reuse and recycle.
During this time, Wendy Chapman
from Bluewater Recycling showed
us a video about the three Rs. This
video explained the proper use of
the blue boxes.
After the assembly all of the
students at Blyth Public School
understood the three Rs a little
better. We hope that all students
will continue their good effort at
recycling in the classrooms and
bringing litterless lunches to
.school. *<>
music centres with Mrs. Regier.
In Mrs. Whyte's Grade 6/7 class,
Ben and Jenna said they were very
excited about Tech 21 that was on
Friday. They explained that they
wanted to experience all the things;
that the Grade8s have been talking
about, since they went there last
year.
IF YOU HAD
RECEIVED THIS AD
IN YOUR MAILBOX
YOU WOULD
HAVE THROWN 75%
OF IT AWAY.
That’s a silly way of stating what is a documented fact. 75% of all
advertising mail meets a sad end. In the trash can! Of the 25% that
we keep, most we don’t even read at that time. We set it aside, to
come back to. Or to forget about completely.
Three times as many people would prefer to receive their price and
cost information in their newspaper. There, it’s all together in one
neat package. Complete and ready for comparison. When people turn
to their paper, they turn there with interest. Which means that’s where
your advertising message needs to be.
With all the choices available, it’s difficult deciding how best to ad
vertise your business. But everything becomes a little simpler when
you remember one rule...
YOU
GOTTA BE
IN THE
PAPER.

Association
Elyse and Troy said that the
paper mache spiders, they were
making, were messy. She thinks
that spiders are creepy. We agree!
To make these they used balloons,
newspapers and glue.
Jessica said they are writing their
autobiographies. "Mrs. Whyte
wants to know who we are, and
what we have done," she explains.
The Grade 7 and 8 classes have just
finished their autobiographies.
They were hard, but it was a fun
experience.
We hope that everyone had a
great Thanksgiving feast this
holiday weekend. We know that the
kids enjoyed their day off school.
