WI members meet
for District Rally
The Huron County Women
Institute Rally was hosted by
Huron South District on Oct. 6 at
the Stephen Twp. Community
Centre.
Lois McFalls, RR 3, Exeter,
chaired the meeting, assisted by
County Secretary-Treasurer
Margaret McMahon, RR 2,
Bluevale.
The roll call was an item for the
food bank. The business included
the Children's Aid Bursary. One
dollar per member was agreed
upon.
The Huron County Scholarship
was awarded to Kelly McNee, as
well as the award for completing 24
4-H clubs. Dree Park received an
award for completing 24 projects.
The 24 project award is being
replaced by a donation the "Friends
for 4-H".
Plans for Institute involvement at
M. Siertsema hosts
Oct. WMS meeting
The WMS held its meeting on
Monday, Oct. 6 at the home of
Margaret Siertsema. The purpose
was repeated. The hymn Come Ye
Thankful People Come was sung.
The service from the Glad
Tidings followed, with Alice
Nicholson and Ivy Cloakey taking
part. Margaret led in prayer.
The roll call was answered by a
verse on Thanksgiving. Margaret
gave the secretary's report and the
treasurer's report was given by Ivy.
Thirty-four sick and shut-in visits
were recorded.
Family attends christening
Maureen Hopf recently returned
home from Owen Sound General
Hospital where she was a patient.
Friends and neighbours wish
Maureen a speedy recovery.
On Sunday, Sept. 28 Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Anderson attended the
christening of their granddaughter

Grade 2s multimedia class
GRADE 2
MULTIMEDIA CLASS

The Grade 2 class in Mrs. Dodds'
class are on their five new
computers. They are doing action
research all year. Mrs. Dodds will
be watching the children to see if
they are learning sight words easier
on computers.
In January, Mrs. Dodds is hoping
to publish some of the computer
research. The research will also
help other teachers leam about the

to be held in Dashwood in 1999

Board director for Subdivision
11, Winnifred Mann, brought
greetings.
Fern Dougall gave a
demonstration using clay flower
pots to decorate for Thanksgiving.
Thelma Dougherty gave the 4-H
report and Marguerite Thomas
from the Health Unit spoke on
cancer.
A full day was enjoyed with a pot
luck meal at noon.
Huron West members attending
were Audrey Fenton, Dianna
Robinson, Jean Nethery, Wilma
Higgins, Mabel Jacklin, Ruth
Orien, Lois Elliott, -Betty
Archambault, Jean Plaetzer,
Roberta Linskill, Donna Young and
Beverley Flielder.
Huron East will host the 1998
Rally to be held in Walton.

A report was given on the Fall
Rally.
Hazel Dalrymple, Irma Mason
and Irene Schultz read poems.
Rev. Cathrine Campbell read a
story by L. M. Montgomery, "The
Genesis of the Donut Club".
Margaret read "Fill Your Heart
with Thanksgiving Love". The
hymn Now Sing Me a Song of the
Harvest was sung.
Rev. Campbell closed the
meeting with prayer and the hostess
served lunch.

There is a lot of software on the
computers. The children are very
excited about their new software
game, called Wiggleworks. It
comes with 160 books and the
children can hear themselves read
on the microphone. The symbol for
the software game is a little green
worm.
There are also math programmes
on the computers. The children are
very excited to be starting their new
programmes.
