Blyth council briefs Gypsy Lane, Thresher’s Park drainage tender let The tenders for drainage work along Gypsy Lane were opened at the Sept. 16 meeting of Blyth coun cil. After reviewing tenders which fanged from $90,099.35 to $200,222.22, Councillor Ron Ritchie recommended council accept the low bid from Merner Contracting for the project. Bruce Potter of B.M. Ross and Associates Ltd. was on hand to look over the tenders and informed council that he had no problems with Merner Contracting and that this size of project was suited to his company. Council stayed within the bud geted $115,000 by accepting the Memer bid. The contract for drainage along the east side of Gypsy Lane and across Thresher's Park will pro ceed, pending receipt of all approvals. *** With just over two weeks before the nomination deadline, Council lors Doug Scrimgeour and Gerald Kerr have declared their intentions to run in the November election. Reeve Mason Bailey was the first local politician to put his name on the ballot. Two council positions remain available. Council sent more than 800 let ters to municipalities across Ontario regarding the education tax campaign, thanking them for their support to date and encouraging them to continue to support the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) as it takes up the fight.
