Lieury took control of the game early, scoring three runs off three hits in the first inning. Then another five hits in the fourth scored three more runs. The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the fifth. Dean Rutledge singled on to be hit home by Greg Mulvey's triple. Andrew McCutcheon singled to score Mulvey giving the Bulldogs two runs. The Bulls opened the scoring at 10:11 of the first with a power-play goal by Darin Alviano assisted by Josh Cressman. The Patriots tied the game at 3:12 to keep even with the Bulls. After no scoring in the second Mount Forest took the lead at 17:16 of the third period and held the lead until Alviano scored shorthanded, assisted by Jarrett Jeffrey at 10:12. The Patriot goal tending was good but for the most part was very lucky as the Bulls were knocking at the door at every opportunity. For the first game and without having a practice together these guys showed a lot of character and some good raw talent that the coaching staff thinks will propel them to very respectable finish this year. The Bulls for 1997-98 include some old and some new faces. Returning veterans include Darin Alviano, Dan Sinclair, Steve Henderson, Jason Heipel, Jeff Sauve, Andy Agar, Brian McNichol, Gary Staples and goaltender Dan Balog. Josh Cressman, who helped the Bulls late in 97 season is back for the full year this year as is Mark Durand, who took last year to play this final year of high school hockey. Some new faces, but very local faces, like Brad Mulvey, Brett Fischer and Grant Jarvis are back this year as Bulls since they played on Brussels Juvenile cards last year and won the WOAA championship. First-year Bulls include Brussels goaltender Jamie Thomas who played last year with the AAA Lakers as did Brad Brown and Jarrett Jeffrey. Brown as the Bulls affiliate at large last year. Jeffrey and Brown hail from Zurich as does first year Bull Mike DeGroot. Other rookies welcomed to the Bulls include 16-year-old Shawn Springall who played for Cambridge Winterhawks AAA Bantams last year and also Brian Truax who played for Kitchener Kavaliers AA Midget hockey team. Another 16-year-old that the club is also very excited about is Curtis Nichol who comes from the Howick Minor Hockey Association. Clinton Minor Hockey has produced fast skating forward Darryl DeRuyter, of course, also in his rookie season. The talents of Mike Dejong who played goal for the Bulls last year has allowed the Bulls organization to keep him on the roster as a skater this year instead of between the pipes. The Bulls exec is very excited with the team they've been able to put on the ice this year and also the team that will back them on the bench. Head Coach Ron Livermore will be assisted by coaches Charlie Smith and Bulls alumnus Corey McKee and also trainers Steve Cameron and Robert Wisser. Doug McArter returns as general manager for his second year and hopes to vastly improve their sixth place finish last year. The Bulls next game will be against the Ironmen Saturday night at 8:30 for Wingham's home opener. The Bulls home opener is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at the BMG Community Centre. Bulls' Notes: The 1997/98 season will see the Western Jr. C league play at 36-game schedule instead of the 30 games played last year. Also, on the injury list, Andy Agar is out pending X-rays on his shoulder after he received a slash in the last exhibition game against Seaforth, whom the Bulls beat 5-4. The Bulls finished their exhibition schedule with one win, two losses and two ties. The two losses were against New Hamburg and C4th with the two ties against New Hamburg and Exeter whom the Bulls played once. $ome ^arbtoare Come in and meet Pat Turner Owner of Turner's Home Hardware Our friendly service will keep you coming back r i / fr i /Zf? k r'fYOUR SIMPLY MOBILE REP 24 Albert St., Box 99 Clinton (519) 482-7023 | NOMINATIONS NOTICE TO MUNICIPAL ELECTORS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MORRIS Nominations In the Township of Morris for the offices of: Municipal Positions: 1 REEVE 1 DEPUTY REEVE me Bs Brussels Squirt Boys were Tri-County B champs defeating Fordwich 12-1 in the final.
