WI attends Blyth theatre
On the afternoon of Aug. 14
members of Auburn Women's
Institute attended The Melville Boys
by Norman Foster at the Blyth
Festival Theatre. A goodly number
enjoyed their evening meal at Blyth
before returning home.
Flowers at the United Church on
Sunday were in memory of Jackie
Collins. Deepest sympathy is given
to her husband George and family
by the church members and all of
Auburn community.
Miss Christine N. Lapp is an air
cadet at Cold Lake Air Cadet
Summer Training Centre at Cold
Lake, Alta.
Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs.
E. Lapp were Mrs. James H. Wood,
and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wood of

Community extends sympathies
Friends of Ron Nesbitt will be
sorry to hear he is still in
University Hospital, London where
he underwent his second surgery
this week.
The best wishes of the
community are extended to him for
a speedy recovery.

Hodgins on the passing of
Clayton's mother Irene Hodgins of
Lucknow.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Ted and June
Fothergill on the passing of June's
sister, Helen Marks at the Listowel
Memorial Hospital.
Ted, June and Dennis Fothergill
attended the funeral in Listowel on
Thursday.w=The news from
Organ prelude with Nancy Park,
organist, opened the service at
Auburn United Church at 10 a.m.
on Aug. 17.
Rev. Paul Ross gave the
invitation to worship, followed by
all singing the opening chorus This
is the Day that the Lord has Made.
Rev. Ross then welcomed
everyone and followed this with
prayer. The hymn The Wise may
bring their Learning was sung. The
congregation was called to serve as
they answered the Prayer of
Confession followed by the
Assurance of Pardon.
The children's chorus was sung
followed by conversation and
prayer. Rev. Ross gave the
scripture from Job 21, where Job is
wondering why the wicked people
seem to be free from troubles and
safe from fear, yet they have no
desire to understand and serve God.
Rev. Ross followed with the
lesson from Matthew 12. In this it
is important to speak only the truth
"Your Word must be justified", he
said.
The hymn O God of Bethel was
sung.
Rev. Ross continued with a
sermon "Tell me more about evil".
Volunteers
sought for
church repair
The Londesboro UCW reports
that Sam Dougherty is currently at
work repairing the church
windows. As he has set aside a few
more weeks for the project, there is
still time for volunteers to offer
their help.
Assistance is needed for
scraping, painting and window
cleaning. Drop by any weekday or
call ahead and schedule a time.
Help will result in a warmer
brighter more attractive church.

euchre
The monthly euchre tournament
was held at the Hall on Friday,
Aug. 8. Fourteen and a half tables
of euchre were in play.
Winners were: first, Glen Carter
and Watson Reid; second, Ila and
Carman Pollock; third, Thys and
Jeanne; lone hands, Ken Vodden,
Dennis Penfound. Three people
won share the wealth.
The next tournament is Friday,
Sept. 12 at 8 p.m.
"What is sin?" he asked. "It is
when people deliberately do and
say things that they know are
wrong. Sometimes those very
people have everything and nothing
seems to go wrong in their lives.
However, Rev. Ross said, God
does know and life should be lived
in His word. Sin can be in what
the same.
He closed with prayer of thanks
for God's help in daily living
followed by The Lord's Prayer
repeated in unison.
Collection was then received and
doxology and offertory prayer
given. The closing hymn was
Onward Christian Soldiers

Women's Institute Hall, Brandon Street, Belgrave, Ontario
Notice is hereby given that a Special General Meeting of members
of North Huron Credit Union Ltd. will be held at the Women's
Institute Hall on Brandon Street, Belgrave, Ontario Tues., August
26, 1997 for the purpose of:
(a) considering, and If thought appropriate , confirming
amendments to the existing by-laws of the credit union.
The proposed amendments would outline the procedure for
issuing shares, other than Membership Shares, of the Credit
Union, and for holding, when required, shareholder meetings
of the Credit Union; and
(b) transacting such other business as may properly be brought
before the meeting.
Copies of the proposed amendments to the General By-laws
of the Credit Union will be available at the meeting and at the
Head Office of the Credit Union at least 10 days before the
