Belgrave PeeWees win big Belgrave PeeWee Boys pulled out a big win from a hosting Seaforth squad, June 26. With some strong offensive innings, the visitors walked away with a 13-4 victory. The first inning gave Belgrave a two run lead with Devin Moffat and Craig Marks scoring, while defense shut down the home squad Sharks beat Bears, Panthers Thursday, June 19 saw the U-6 Sharks outplay the Wolves in Brussels. Great team work was displayed by both teams of three to six-year- olds. Ben Gowing of the Wolves was successful in scoring two goals. For the Sharks, congratulations to Annamieka Kerkhof on scoring her first ever goal and also to Westin McLeod for scoring four goals. Great goal stopping was displayed by Alyssa Oldridge and Annamieka Kerkhof. Another good game was witnessed by parents and friends of the U-6 Shark and Panther teams Thursday, June 24. The Panthers had many good runners and displayed great team effort, but were unable to just get that one U-12s lose 1, win 1 June 11, a short-handed Brussels I U-12 team travelled to play Drayton I. One-third of the team was away on a class trip. The rest of the team played a good game but the warm weather and lack of subs resulted in a 4-0 defeat. June 18 saw the team playing at home against Newton. Brussels made use of passing to come out 4- 1 victors. The duo of Joel Hemingway and Troy Bachaus were outstanding in goal with Newton's only goal coming on a penalty kick. The Brussels scorers were Alvin McLellan with two, Patrick Ruston and Brian Van Veen. June 25 Brussels I played Listowei 2 in Listowel. Despite the heat and three missing players, Brussels came away with a 6-2 win. Joel Hemingway played an excellent game in net. Brussels' goals were scored by Adam Cochrane, five and Evan Horst. in the bottom half. Two more runs in the second, scored by Matt Walker and Justin Campbell increased the Belgrave lead. Seaforth got on the board dur­ ing their at bat, scoring one. A huge third inning for the visi­ tors put them way ahead., Crossing the plate were Moffat, Jason Fear, Marks, Myron Hussey, Travis Hop­ important kick into the Sharks' net. The Sharks too, displayed great team effort, enabling them to score eight goals. Special congratulations to Emily Kerkhof and Brenda Stretton who scored their first goals ever. Way to go! Seaforth persevered scoring two in their half, only to have Belgrave notch three more in the top of the fourth. Fear, Marks and Hussey scored. The home boys got one more in the fourth, but it was not enough to bring it closer. Campbell pitched the entire game, with Hussey behind the plate for Belgrave. two awesome score kicks and McLeod was successful with four goals. The ceremony took place the bride's daughters' home near Holmesville. The children of the bride and groom were their attendants. A buffet supper was served. The evening was spent in dancing. It began with a lovely pork chop meal. The entertainment was provided by Bob Heywood of Exeter. The meeting opened with O Canada. The minutes of the May meeting were read. Reta Kelland gave the treasurer's report. The seniors presented two awards at Hullett's graduation banquet. Those receiving them were Annietta Beisinger and Melissa Snell. The next dance is June 27. Lunch was planned for the euchre tournament on July 11. Congratulations to Reta Kelland and Josie MacGregor for getting gold for euchre at two senior games. Also to Ray and Betty Fisher for getting gold for contract bridge. A letter was read from the Day Care Centre. The next meeting is on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Lunch for that day is: cake, Reta Kelland and June Fothergill; ice cream, Renee Snell and Bruce Roy. Sept. 5 is the 45th wedding Former corrections officer charged A former correctional officer of the Bluewater Youth Centre has been charged with common assault. Following an investigation by the Major Cases Section of the OPP Criminal Investigation Bureau, Garth Rate, 42, of Eldon Street, Goderich, has been charged with assault against an inmate of the Centre.
