S ports Bly th kicks off soccer season
Calling all sport reporters
Area children have been preparing for their upcoming
baseball and soccer season with practise, practise, practise.
These hard-working efforts, and the games
are, of course, newsworthy. However, with
teams to cover in several municipalities, The
Citizen has always appreciated receiving game
reports from coaches and/or parents.
They can be submitted in story form, point form, by
score sheet or on a game sheet, available from either of
our offices.
We would also appreciate receiving copies of the
teams' home schedules so we could try and be on hand
to get some action shots.
Golfers card, a winlwin situation
If you are planning on playing
some golf this summer, you might
as well save some money and help
a good cause along the way.
At least that's the way Brenda
Sjaarda sees it, and there's a
growing number of people who
agree with her. Sjaarda is a parent
of a student at Clinton and District
Christian School, and as a
fundraiser for the school, Sjaarda
has created a Huron District Golf
Value Card to help golfers save
money, and at the same time., help
the school make money.
The value cards can be purchased
for $10 each, and with a card,
golfers can attend eight Huron
County golf courses twice for half
price.
Each time the card holders
attends a course (up to a limit of
two times per course), they only
have to pay for nine holes but are
allowed to play 18.
In total, the golfing value of the
card amounts to about $100.
The courses included on the card
are the Maitland Golf and Country
Club, Sunset Golf Club, Bayview
Golf Club in St. Joseph's, the
Mitchell Golf and Country Club,
Bluewater Golf Course in Bayfield,
Wingham Golf Club, Exeter Golf
Club, and the Seaforth Golf and
Country Ciub. The offer also
applies to the swing simulator at
Bleachers in Goderich and the
mini-golf course at Point Farms
General Store.
One thousand value cards will be
sold, so if you want yours, contact
Sjaarda at 526-7444.
With Blyth Soccer registration
complete, the numbers have
increased by 80 per cent to last
year, with 165 registrants.
This season's coaches and

houseleague and the 18+ is setting
up their own schedule.
The five towns' combined total is
approximately 1,500 participants.
All teams are co-ed.
The NHSL schedule begins this

Charles Snell took a powerful swing during the ball game
between the first graduating class and the present Grade
7 and 8s at Hullett Central Public School. The game was
part of the 30th anniversary celebration organized by the

Fundraiser
sends kids
to camp
Sifto Salt Mine Tours are
booking up fast as Sifto and the
Children's Aid Society of Huron
County team up to raise money to
send local children to camp this
summer.
In addition to the popular tours of
North America's largest under
ground mine, the committee has
organized a dinner auction to be
held on June 7 at the Candlelight
Restaurant. At the dinner the Early
Bird Draws for two adventure
vacations on working Great Lake
Freighters will be drawn.
Like the Sall Mine Tours, which
are not available to the general
public, the chance to ply the Great
Lakes on a salt carrier as a holiday
experience is an offering which can
not be purchased. For Great Lakes
buffs, it is an opportunity of a
lifetime!
