Silver Tops do potluck
At noon on March 19, the Silver
Tops enjoyed a potluck dinner. The
hostesses were Margaret Hilde
brand and Ethel Ball.
After cleaning up Daryl Ball took
all on a trip to Africa via excellent
pictures. He went with a group of
many nationalities. They went to
England first and he showed some
shots of London's well-known
areas. From there Daryl took them
to the English areas where his
parent's families had lived before
coming to Canada.
On to Africa, he landed at
Johannesburg. From there they
travelled by foot or in an
overcrowded Land Rover to visit
jungles and reservations.
There were pictures of various
animals, baboons, giraffes, antelope
and wallabees. There were
hippopotamus in the water and
pelicans on the shore. In the air
were black swans and various
beautiful birds. The picture of the
lions and elephants were magnified
- one of an elephant was certainly a
closeup shot.
Of course, they visited Victoria
Falls which is different from
Niagara. There there are deep
gorges that the Zambezi River cut
through the years to their falls
today.
Daryl showed two beautiful
mahogany figurines and a wall
hanging of an antelope made of
hair.
They were excellent pictures and
Daryl is a super narrator. He was
thanked by everyone and many
questions were asked.
A short business meeting follow
ed. A new list for convenors is to
be made. To make extra money,
film containers are to be used and
brought to the May meeting. Plans
for future meetings were made.
Margaret Hildebrand handed out
Voice magazines to be read and
gave a reading on birthdays. A
reading by Ethel Ball on
"Neighbours" closed an interesting
meeting.

congregation and present all with
the holy cross. A prayer was said.
The children went to their respec
tive classes. He is Lord was sung.
Rev. Ross read scripture from
Isaiah 50. This speaks of the power
of help from God for those who
obey His word and trust in Him.
The choir sang a very appropriate
hymn.
The scripture continued from
Mark 11, where words are spoken
of the disciples getting a colt for
Christ to ride into Jerusalem. Many
spread their coats before Him on he
road.
In the sermon Rev. Ross first
spoke concerning things that
happen in politics today. He
continued with things in Christ's
time. He unrolled a scroll that was
supposed to have been written to
Demetrius. It speaks of Jesus' life
and of the good that He did. .

WI meets
At 2 p.m. on March 20, the WI
met at the Community Hall.
Members were pleased to have
visitors from youth with them for
the meeting.
President, Tina Empey welcomed
all. This was followed by the WI
Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect and
the singing of O Canada.
Marjorie McDougall was the
accompanist for this. Evelyn Vliett
then read an appropriate poem "An
Irish Blessing", followed this with
the amusing "What is St. Patrick's
Day".
The roll call was then answered
by displaying antique jewellery and
articles and telling about them.
Tina then took over the business.
It was decided to have the annual
meeting and dinner beginning at 12
o’clock at the restaurant. This will
be on April 8. Committee in charge
will be Betty Archambault, Jean
Plaetzer, Maureen Bean, Teresa
Roetcisoender and Mildred Lawlor.
Laura Mae Chamney will assist if
needed. x
There will be an executive
meeting on April 7 and the WI
Annual is on May 26.
The treasurer's report was given.
Collection has been excellent for
the 100th celebration.
Two parcels are ready to go to
Zambia and a third is underway.
The day's collection and pennies
were then received.
Evelyn Flett read a very amusing
poem on Patrick McGinty,
