The Citizen, 1997-03-12, Page 13THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12,1997 PAGE 13. Morris council deals with numerous budgets Several budgets for the coming year were approved by Morris Twp, council at the Feb. 18 meet ing. The drainage budget was set at $100,000 with $80,000 going to maintenance and $20,000 to drainage superintendent costs and the waste disposal budget at $72,010. Approval was given to the Wing ham and Fire Area Board budget at $207,400, the Brussels, Morris, Grey Community Centre budget at $307,581.64 and the Blyth and Dis trict Community Centre Board bud get at $195,900. Drainage Superintendent Gary Nichol was advised to proceed with maintenance to the Hanna Drain, if all landowners are in agreement. The landowners of Lot 22, Cone. 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 will be asked if they wish to enter into an agree ment for drainage assessment share on the hydro corridor. Morris council has a year-end surplus of $5,318, reported Russ Taylor of Reid and Associates, Wingham. Following a request from Doug Gamiss and Keith Elston for sup port for the Belgrave, Blyth, Brus sels School Fair, council reviewed their 1996 policy for grants. From 1992 to 1994, the fair had received $150, but that amount had been cut in half for 1996, as had all other grants. The grant for 1995 was $200 because of the special occa sion. Council agreed to increase the support to $150, with a letter sent to the fair board explaining coun cil's previous decision to cut the grant. Wayne Fear and Paul Fear attended the meeting, along with Chief Building Official Paul Josling, to discuss the construction of a new bam at Lot 3, 4, Cone. 6. The barn would require a minor variance to reduce the separation distance by 33 per cent. The prop erty to which the bam would be too close is owned by the Fears, but registered in a different name. Council advised a 33 per cent reduction was difficult to justify. Josling also advised council on the approval of a septic tank for Lot 25, Cone. 1.
