Hearing, was the sense at that they studied this week. By doing a special listening activity where they matched sounds, they tested their listening skills. The letter 'H' was the letter that they worked on as well. The Grade Is are finishing their measuring unit and their amaryllis stories. They are now working on recording ideas in story form and when they have five ideas recorded (five sentence stories), they can publish them. Some of the titles so far are, "My Dog", "I Love You, Mom", "The Wolf", "The Little Chick". The class is really excited about being the next room to be moved down to the gym so that their room can be painted. Mrs. Vivian's Grade 2/3s are now moved back into their newly- painted (Hawthom/Sapling colour) classroom. I'm sure that the colour will truly inspire the children to do great work. Mrs. Vandendool's class is now in the gym as their room is being painted Hawthorn and Riviera Green, which will create a great atmosphere for working on their mystery stories. So far they have written such stories as, "The Case of the Unexpected Robberies", "The Case of the Missing Horses" and "The Case of the Missing Teacher". 482-3400 Grey Twp. sees surplus Grey Twp. council, at its regular meeting on Feb. 17 accepted the financial statements which indicated an accumulated net surplus of $31,744. Council accepted the proposal from Frank Cowan Limited for the township's 1997 insurance at a price of $27,039 plus taxes. The Cowan proposal was the lowest of two proposals and represents a 2.8 per cent increase over the 1996 premium. The proposed budget of the Brussels, Morris and Grey Board of Recreation Management projected a 1997 deficit of $40,109.49. Grey's share of the 1997 deficit at $13,637.23 compared to $21,868.89 in 1996, was accepted. Prelude music was played by Marion Godkin. The minutes of the hands, Allan Edgar. Don McDonald along with the other Seaforth Harmony Kings competed in Mitchell this weekend in the Men’s SW District Men's Barbershop Competition. The Kings came in third place. first WI meeting held on Feb. 19, 1897 was read. The new WI centennial song was sung. A candle was lit to honour this day. Continued on page 15
