With fluctuating timber prices
and an increase in demand from
logging companies, there are
certain procedures you should
follow when selling timber in your
woodlot.
"It is the same if you are putting
a new roof on your house or buying
a new car, you compare prices. In
the timber business the same is
true, you should get two to three
quotes on the logs in your bush,"
said Steve Harburn of the
Middlesex Woodlot Association.
The following are the steps you
should take:
1) Mark the trees you wish to sell,
being careful to follow the county
tree cutting bylaws.
2) Have a consultant estimate the
volume of board feet in the trees
that are marked.
3) Contact three or four logging
companies and get a written
quotation from them.
4) Check references for each
company for their previous work
records.
5) Sign a timber sale agreement
with the logging company of your
choice. The agreement should
state that only marked trees will
be removed and by a certain date.
The agreement should also state
that the logging company has
porary incisors in place; reserve
ram; second, get of sire, born on
exhibitor's property, group of three
with full mouth milk teeth, by same
sire; second, breeder's flock bred
and owned by exhibitor, group of
four, both sexes and fourth, ram
with first pair of temporary incisors
in place, born on exhibitor's proper-
ty.
Todds also took home several
awards with their Hampshire sheep.
They placed: reserve ram; third, get
of sire, born on property of
exhibitor, group of three, with full
mouth milk teeth, by same sire;
fifth and seventh, ewe with first
pair of temporary incisors in place,
born on exhibitor's property; fifth
and seventh, ram with first pair of
temporary incisors in place, born
on exhibitor's property; fifth, breed-
er's flock, bred and owned by
exhibitor, group of four, both sexes
and sixth, ewe yearling with third
pair of temporary incisors in place,
born and bred in Canada.

"If you advise these people that you
are coming in and give them a
choice to get their own people."
Murray replied that there is some
concern that the additional time
taken for a notification period
might delay the destruction of the
weeds.
"Certainly this is a matter that
will be going back to committee,"
said Warden Bill Clifford.
