Cty. council
considers
weed policy
Huron County's Agriculture and
Public Works Committee will look
at new procedures of notifying
people that noxious weeds on their
property must be destroyed.
Several county councillors, at the
Nov. 28 meeting of council, argued
that there should be more'notice to
landowners than simply an adver-
tisement in county newspapers. Bill
Vanstone, reeve of Colborne, said
he thought there was a policy to
send written notices to people who
have property with weed problems.
But Lynn Murray, clerk-adminis-
trator, explained that Weed Inspec-
tor John Gibson had been told by
Craig Hunter, Ontario's chief weed
inspector, that there were liability
problems if notices were sent.
