In a resolution passed by Morris
Twp. council, Nov. 12, it was
agreed to give full support to the
campaign to save Huron County
hospitals.
Council will send petitions to the
government via the premier, minis-
ter of health and Huron MPP Helen
Johns, requesting the reconsidera-
tion of reductions in health care
which would see the closure of any
Huron County facilities.
A notice regarding the burning of
old structures or setting a major
blaze will be included in the next
tax billing. Anyone starting a fire
which would constitute a major
blaze, must notify the fire depart-
ment. Failure to do so could result
in a false alarm, with costs charged
to the property owner.
Final reading and passage was
given to a bylaw allowing the trans-
fer of Part Lot 8, Conc. 2.
A bylaw was passed authorizing
the actual costs and billing for
Wilbee Drain.
Grey Twp has agreed to the name
Brandon Road, for Morris Twp.
Conc. 4/5. Council also decided to
name County Road 16, from Brus-
sels to Hwy. 4, Morris Road.
In response to Hullett Twp.'s
request for processing and printing
of tax bills for 1997, council quoted
a price of $1 per bill.
It was agreed that the remaining
souvenirs from the 140th anniver-
sary celebration would be adver-
tised for sale.
Human Rights Day was declared
for Dec. 10.
A $5,000 recreation grant from
the Ministry of Citizenship, Culture
and Recreation, will be applied for
by council.

were granted $100.

ters continued at the regular session
of council, Nov. 19.
After receiving a reply from
Blyth council regarding the diffi-
culty of erecting a plaque for a
Morris Twp. donation at Blyth
Union Cemetery, council agreed to
supply the plaque. Council will

A public meeting was held to
consider the rezoning of South Half
Part Lot 31, Conc. 1 from General
Agriculture AG1 to Agricultural
Small Holding AG4. The rezoning
was required to recognize the
change in land use from agricultur-
al to residential. Though there were
no comments from the gallery and
no objections from the Huron
County Planning Department or
Health Unit, council's decision was
deferred until Dec. 3 because there
was no quorum. Councillor Keith
Johnston had declared a pecuniary
interest, Councillor John Duskocy
was working and Reeve Bert Elliott
was ill.
In preparation for a strategic
planning meeting for the county,
councillors reconfirmed their pref-
erence to Option 4 which would see
