Nancy Park was the organist on Dec. 1 for the 10 a.m. service at Knox United Church. Rev. Paul Ross gave words of welcome. He called the Doug McClinchey family to the front to light the advent candle on the 1st Advent Sunday. While they were doing this the hymn The Holly and The Ivy was sung. The service continued with announcements being given by Rev. Ross followed by prayer. The hymn On Jordan's Bank was then sung. As this was White Gift Sunday the children had all come into church and sat in their respective classes with their teachers. The classes went to the front and presented their gifts while Ann Vincent and her daughter Lee-Ann collected the congregation's gifts. The children's chorus was being sung during this presentation. The minister continued with his Sunday School bag for the children. In it was a bag of breakfast oatmeal — he spoke to the children about thi. and closed with repetitive The Christmas meeting of Londesboro Happy Gang Seniors was held at the hall on Wednesday, Nov. 27. A delicious Christmas prayer. The children then went downstairs to their classes. Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus was sung, followed by scripture from Isaiah 64 regarding people who do not see or hear God's words. God is the potter and people are His creation. Scripture from Mark 13 concerned the second coming of Christ. The time for His return is unknown, but everyone should be prepared. 0 Come, Emmanuel was then sung. The sermon was "Don't Wait for God". There are things in this world that must be taken care of and it is up to God's people to do their best in this work, said Rev, Ross. We, also, must remember that God is always here to give assistance — He can be our helping hand. This closed with prayer followed by The Lord's Prayer repeated in unison. Collection was then received, doxology sung and offertory prayer given. The service closed with the singing of Hark the Glad Sound followed by threefold Amen and the organ postlude. dinner was served by the UCW ladies at 12:30 p.m. to 70 people.
