The Citizen, 1996-10-09, Page 15Part of the community
Firefighters are an integral part of any community because
of the lifesaving skills which they develop and continual
practice to ensure the safety of residents.
This area is fortunate to have the well-trained volunteers of
the Grey Twp., Brussels and Blyth Fire Departments prepared
to assist in any emergency.
Firefighters participate .n mock accidents, such as the bus
roll-over exercise the Grey Twp. department took part in in
1993, to prepare for any eventuality.
Local organizations contribute to the needs of firefighters,
A
enabling them to assist residents
under any conditions. The Blyth
Fire Department acquired a
snow/water rescue sled last win-
ter, allowing for easier access to
injured parties in remote areas.
It is riot only in emergencies
that fire uepartments participate
in community activities. Break-
fasts are a popular ever , bring-
ing firefighters and residents
together in a time of laugher and
enjoyment. It gives the depart-
ment the opportunity to thank
the community for supporting
their efforts and re -idents the
chance to say thank you for their
dedication, sacrifice and skilled
aid which makes our communi-
ties a safer place to live.
