Chinguacousy Garden Chapel,
Brampton, and the reception which
followed at Chinguacousy Tea
House.
In celebration of the Waterloo
County and Area Quilt Festival,
Doon Heritage Crossroads, in co-
operation with the Waterloo
County Women Teacher's Associa-
tion, will hold a quilt show
displaying both traditional and
contemporary designed quilts from
Saturday, May 18 until Sunday,
May 26.
Teachers from across the Region
The canvassers for the Canadian
Cancer Society in Belgrave and the
surrounding area brought in a total
of $3,098 during the April canvass.
Good work and many thanks to all
who contributed.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson
spent a few days last weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Roy, Emily and
Christina at Peterborough. On
Monday they visited with friends,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wheeler of
Ajax.
EWPS principal Ken Scott will
be retiring this year. Al Harrison
has been selected as the new
principal. Mr. Scott says, "I have
certain enjoyed my 10 years here
and I will miss the many pleasant
associations that have occurred
during that time. I look forward to
new challenges and new experi-
ences along with a more relaxed
way of life. The Belgrave
Community will always have a
special place in my memory. thank
you for all your past support and
help."

day period. Doon will also have
some of the finer quilts from its
collection displayed on beds in the
homes throughout the historic
village. Quilt related activities and
demonstrations will take place
during the week of the festival.
The Afternoon Unit of the UCW
met May 14 in the Sunday School
room with 10 members and three
visitors present.
Audrey Fenton conducted the
business, beginning with a short
reading followed by the minutes of
the April meeting.
Edith Vincent was in charge of
the worship. It was entitled
"Adventurous Religion" and was
quite suitable because the guest
speaker Kathy (Snell) Whatley
spent her early childhood in the
Westfield community. She, her
husband and baby boy are
preparing to go to Irian Jaya, New
Brownies,
Sparks

badges
The Brownies and Sparks met at
the East Wawanosh Public School
on Thursday, May 16.
The girls enjoyed working on
greenhouses, colouring booklets as
well as planting cucumbers, toma-
toes, popcorn and pumpkin seeds.
Nicole Meier and Bridgette
Kellington worked on their cyclist
badge. Bridgette also worked on
her pet keepers badge, while
Camerra Yuill was tested for
athletes badge.
Sing-songs and playing games
brought the evening to a close.
44 gather for
euchre games
There were 11 tables of euchre in
play on Wednesday, May 15 at the
Women's Institute Hall.
Winners were: high lady, Jean
Pattison; second high lady, Viola
Edgar; lone hands, Marj Coultes;
low lady, Helen Dougherty; high
man, Helen Martin (playing as a
man); second high man, Ruth
Johnston (playing as a man); lone
hands, Stuart Chamney; low man,
John King.
There will be euchre again
Wednesday, May 22 at 8 p.m.

headquartered in Durham, Ontario.
Kathy showed a video of the
people and country which is very
primitive. She also told of their
training, then answered questions.
Edith Vincent thanked Kathy and
Kay Roberts presented baby, Brent
with a gift from the Unit.
The Lord's Prayer closed the
meeting.
