Belgrave PeeWees blast Ethel The Belgrave PeeWee Boys got their baseball season off to a solid start with a 25-7 victory over Ethel on May 7 in Ethel. Kevin Hopf and Justin Campbell shared pitching duties for the game, while Myron Hussey was behind the plate for Belgrave. The visitors got on the board in the first with runs scored by Travis Campbell, Justin Campbell, Hussey, Tim Robinson and Jim McCracken. Ethel answered with two in the home half, then Belgrave jumped way ahead scoring seven in the second while shutting their hosts down. Crossing the plate for Belgrave was both Campbells, Hussey, Robinson, Hopf, Jason Fear and Craig Marks. Then Campbell, Hussey, Curtis Knight, Fear and Marks tagged on some more in the third. Ethel answered with their best inning scoring five before being set down. Another offensive attack by Bel- grave in the fourth, put the game way out of reach, however. After Justin Campbell, Hussey, Mc- Cracken, Knight, Rick Buchannan, Adam Potter and Fear crossed the plate, Ethel was shut out to end the game. Park bans alcohol Campers visiting the Falls Reserve Conservation Area will be asked to observe an alcohol ban on the upcoming Victoria Day weekend. The ban will be in effect from Friday, May 17 to Monday, May 20. During this time visitors to the park will be asked to turn over any alcohol they have in their possession, to be returned when they leave the park. "The ban promotes a family- oriented atmosphere at the park," said Geoff King, Falls Reserve superintendent. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police will be on hand to help park security staff enforce the ban. This is the seventh year the ban has been in effect. Falls Reserve Conservation Area is located along the Maitland River at Benmiller. The park has 180 campsites plus a day use area and group camping facilities. About 12,000 day users and 30,000 campers visit the park each year. Maitland Valley Conservation Authority operates the Falls Reserve along with 4,500 acres of other conservation lands in the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds.
