Fed steers steady, stockers off $2

The market at Brussels Livestock
for the week ending April 12 was:
fed cattle, 568; cows, 249; veal
calves, 309; sheep and goats, 206;
and stockers, 1,848.
Fed steers and heifers sold on a
steady active trade. Cows sold
steady. On Thursday veal sold
steady and lambs sold on a strong
trade. On Friday all classes of
stockers were selling $1 - $2 lower.
There were 395 steers on offer
selling from $78 to $82 to the high
of $93.75. A Limousin steer
consigned by Keith Griffith,
Chatham, weighing 1,335 lbs. sold
for $93.75 to Norwick Packers with
their total offering of 43 steers
averaging 1,430 lbs. selling for an
overall price of $81.39. Thirty
steers consigned by Cunningham
Farms, Lucan, averaging 1,384 lbs.
sold for an average of $82.83 with
sales to $92.25. Twenty-one steers
consigned by Ralph Dickson,
Mitchell, averaging 1,468 lbs. sold
for an average of $80.13 with sales
to $92.25.
