The minutes of the March meeting were read and approved. Mary Taylor led the worship with the. theme being "Would You Believe?" Kay Roberts presented the mission study and chose "Respond- Rev. Paul Ross led the service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organist. The Invitation to Worship was read alternately, followed by the opening chorus. Rev. Ross gave prayers and the life and work of the church. The children's hymn Lord of the Dance was sung. Rev. Ross told the children's story which was followed by the children's chorus. A flute duet was played by Karen Trick and Paul Ross. Hymn in the Cross of Christ I Glory was sung. Rev. Ross's message was entitled "How People Become Christians". The offering was received by Graham Worsell and Joel Arthur and for the church school by Becky Archambault and Leanne Vincent, then dedicated. Congratulations to Lloyd and Vera Penfound on the birth of a grandson Jonathon Lloyd Black- well born April 10. On Friday, April 12 the Belgrave Community Club entertained the Blyth Swinging Seniors with an afternoon of a variety of entertainment. The program began with the singing of 0 Canada by the approximately 80 people attending. This was followed by the blessing given by Rev. John Roberts which preceded a lunch of delicious desserts. President Bob Grasby announced that the zone rally was being held in Dashwood on Thursday, April 18. Anyone wishing to attend is to contact the president. Barbara Anderson was in charge of the program. Alf Nichol enter- tained at the piano. Then, Freda Johnston, at the piano, accom- panied the group in a short sing- song of old favourites. Arnold Bruce, Ron McBumey, Mary Heine and Doris Walker entertained with some lively fiddle tunes. Alice Nicholson, in her usual capable manner, recited a couple of humorous readings. Rev. Roberts favoured with two solos Old Man River and The Sergeant Major on Parade, accompanied by his wife Kay at the piano. Guest speaker, Marie Collinson of Atwood, who is known as "The Story Teller” entertained all with stories of Indian and Irish folklore. She was thanked by Mary Taylor. Isabelle Craig, on behalf of the Blyth Swinging Seniors, thanked the Belgrave Club for inviting them. She also announced that they have a bus trip planned for May 8 to Hamilton and asked if any from Belgrave would like to go. The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing euchre and lost _heir. There were numerous draws for a variety of surprise prizes. The ticket draw for an afghan was won by Len Sitler and the draw for two Pilki.ws was won by George Carter. had written for a booklet which was started in 1991 by the unit.
