Welcome back. Visiting with Charles Cook Easter Sunday were Donna Cook, Terry, Woollett and little Kimberly from Bramalea and also Ernie Cook, Wingham. Ruth King accompanied her daughter, Kathleen Kelly to The Sacrament of Infant Baptism and Communion was observed in the Belgrave and Calvin-Brick United Churches on the second Sunday of Easter. Elly Van Bergen was in charge of the service with assistance from Marg Walsh, who read the scripture. Rev. Mary Jane Hobden was also present to conduct the baptism of Andrea Patricia Shiell, daughter of Donald and Connie Shiell at Calvin-Brick and Spencer Gordon Stevenson, son of Scott and Andrea Stevenson in Belgrave. During the children's story Elly explained the logo on the front of the church bulletin which illustrates a congregation in a ship moving with "the spirit on waves". The sails are anchored to the cross which represents God being the anchor in their lives, she said. Elly chose as her sermon topic "The Chicken or the Egg" and related the story of Thomas and how he doubted until he saw the holes in Jesus's hands and feet. The contrast was made between Thomas, who needed to see to believe, and those today who Toronto Easter Saturday where they attended the showing of Beauty and the Beast at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Easter Sunday dinner guests with Charles Cook and Ruth King were Kathleen and Ken, Kelly, Michael, Jeanne and Jonathan King, also Jerry Higgins, all of Stratford and Margaret Higgins and Jean Pattison. Celebrating April birthdays were Ruth, Ken and Jonathan. Mr. and Mrs. George Michie were in Chatham on the weekend where they attended the Atom AA All Ontario playdown hockey. Their grandson Jeffrey Whitfield was playing with t he Lake Superior Alarms team from Sault Ste. Marie. They played five games tying three games and winning two. Sunday guests at the home of Scott and Andrew Stevenson were Bill Stevenson and Marg Cressman, Clinton; Jason Berard, Seaforth; Mark and Janice Matheson and family of Moles- worth; Paul and Karen Cook and family; Steve and Joanne Robinson and family; Bill and Muriel Coultes, all of Belgrave; Brian and Alison Wightman, Auburn; Don, Elizabeth and Linda Stobo of Teeswater. The family gathered to celebrate the baptism of Spencer believe without seeing the actual event. Each person is different, and they learn and come to faith in different ways.
