Due to the large amount of recyclable material being placed in
the Blyth-Hullett Landfill Site, the Board has instructed the Site
Attendant to inspect all garbage being transported to the Site.
All persons arriving on site MUST have their Garbage properly
sorted into HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE, BURNABLE and
RECYCLABLE. Offenders SHALL NOT be allowed on site until
the Site Attendant is satisfied that the garbage has been
properly sorted. The Board has indicated that if recyclable
material continues to be placed in the Landfill, their alternative
will be to implement a USER FEE system which will affect all
residents. This is YOUR Landfill. Make It last. Additional
information on recycling may be obtained from your Municipal
Office.

Peace, at what price?
The cost is one thing the young Peacemakers at Blyth Public School will never have to
worry about as the Blyth Optimists Club donated $300 to the annual operating cost of the
program, April 1. Receiving the donation from Optimist President Alan Young is
Peacemaker Teag Onn. Other representatives are, from left: Jackie Brak, Staff Advisor
Cheryl Cronin, Elizabeth Ross and Chris Hall.
PS Peacemakers speak at camp
A group of young people from
Blyth Public School can be very
proud of their accomplishments as
part of the Peacemaker corps at
their school.
Invited to speak at a camp at the
Ontario Educational Leadership
Centre in October, with regards to
the Huron County Board of Educa-
tion's initiative with the 'Zero.Tol-
ertince towards Violence' program,
the students outlined the Peacemak-
ers on Patrol project which began
in 1994.

Blyth council passed in principle
a draft budget that would sec some
change due to the county-wide
assessment, but which was based
on the 1995 mill rate.
Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart
presented the draft for council's
consideration at the April 1 meet-
ing.
While the budget would have
minimal affect as far as the munici-
pal tax levy, the bad news was the
decrease in revenue. Due to the
assessment, the revenue from com-
mercial taxation would be approxi-
mately $7,300 more than last year,
while it would be just over 52,000
less in commercial. Revenue from
business has been budgeted as
close to $2,000 less than last year
as well.
For payments received in lieu of
taxes, the village will receive
$52,000 less than in 1995. "Making
do with less. It's part of the new
lifestyle," said Councillor Doug
Scrimgeour.
Grants arc also anticipated to he
less than in 1995, by just over
58,0(X).
Stewart, however, noted that in
preparing the revenue side of the
budget he estimates on the modest
side. "1 always use the worst case
scenario."
Before passing the motion to
approve the draft in principle,
Councillor Robbie Lawrie verified
that council would still have the
final say on any mon6 spent.
"Absolutely, the budget is really
just your best guess," said Stewart.
