Wingham tops PeeWees The Belgrave Atoms exited last week's play with three wins and a tie. • On Monday, they gave a lopsided 9-0 thrashing to Elma-Logan. Scott Folkard and Matt Rochetta led the attack, with five points each. Goals were scored by Folkard (four), Garrett Knight (two), Ken McCracken (two), and Rochetta. Assists were awarded to Rochetta (four), Paul Walker (three), Trevor Koehler (two), Chad Cook (two), Folkard, Knight, McCracken and Paul Garniss. Matt Cowan earned the shutout. On Wednesday, the team played to an exciting 3-3 tie with the strong Stephen Twp. squad. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, Belgrave responded with three unanswered goals. Rochetta scored first, assisted by Cook. McCracken scored Bel- grave's second goal, assisted by Matthew Bromley. Belgrave's final goal was scored by Folkard, assisted by Cook and Rochetta. NeEi AAL BARS KELLOGG'S et° E A s A The Brussels PeeWee Rep team lost a tough 3-1 game to the Wingham Rep squad. Stephen Todd scored the lone Brussels goal, assisted by Carla Hunt and Robbie Kerr. Coach Murray Kellington said both teams played well. He pointed The Wingham Wescast PeeWee Bs continued their strong play winning their last two games and dominating on the score sheets. Wingham hosted Lucknow on Jan. 7 and beat them soundly 7-4. Garrett Skinn got things going early in the first, taking a nice pass from Tom Mullin. Then Justin Campbell got an unassisted marker to make it 2-0. Kyle Anderson scored from Brett Coulthard and then Justin Black banged one in from Jamie Koch all in the first period. Lucknow came back in the third scoring three times but it was too little, too late. Mullin scored twice with Aaron Himmelman and Skinn assisting each time. Then Himmelman The Belgrave Tykes lost a tough 12-5 game against Brussels last week. Jeremy Robinson scored all five goals for Belgrave. The team begins its playoffs series against Howick this Friday, at 8:45 p.m. scored in the third to salt the victory with assists to Mullin and Campbell. Teeswater came to Wingham on Jan. 14 and went away with a 10-4 posting. Wingham scored five times in the first with Mullin leading the way with a hattrick. Then in the third Wingham scored four more times with Craig Marks getting a pair and singles going to Adam McQuiggan and Himmelman. Assisting were Peter Dixon, Anderson and Coulthard. On Wednesday, they play Wingham at 7 p.m. and, on Saturday, they take to the ice for a 10:30 a.m. game against Lucknow III. Stephen tallied another, with just over two minutes remaining, to salvage the tie. On Friday, the strong offense returned to hand a 6-2 defeat to Zurich. Goals were scored by Folkard (two), Rochetta, Koehler, Travis Hopper and Ryan Moran. Assists were given to Garniss, Cook, Rochetta and Bromley. On Saturday, the boys played an exhibition contest against Wing- ham, and won 3-2. Belgrave carried a 2-1 lead until late in the third. The Brussels Atoms won their first playoff game last Friday evening, with a 5-2 victory over Drayton. Mark Hunter led the Brussels attack, with two goals and an assist. Wingham tied the game with a goal at the 2:05 mark. Belgrave was not to be denied, however, and Folkard put the winning goal in the net with only 17 seconds left in the game. Coach Alan Krotz complimented his team on a good effort, and gave a special mention to Novice callups Brandon Blake and Rob McClure, who filled in for regulars Tyler Campbell and Joel Hemingway.
