Atom Reps in tourney
The Brussels Midgets had a
tough time this past week, losing
two close games.
On Monday evening, they lost a
6-4 game to Blyth. Brussels goals
were scored by Dean Walker, Tim
Stricker, Trevor Huffman and Mike
two local boys made their
contribution to the Brussels Bulls
scoring in this past weekend's
Junior C hockey action.
Rookies Mike Dauphin and Cory
Bragg tallied their first Junior C
goals against Mt. Forest and
Walkerton respectively.
The club travelled to meet the
Patriots in Mt. Forest on Friday
night, losing by just two goals to
the first place team. Josh Alexander
notched the first Brussels point off
the sticks of Aaron Barrie and Ryan
Wright.
Wright then turned around to
score one of his own, with assists
credited to Peter Ryter and
Brandon Alviano. Dauphin drove
home the final Bulls goals with
Tim Beyer assisting. The final
score was 5-3.
On Sunday in Walkerton, Bragg
got things started with a goal off a
Dauphin. Assists were given to
Walker, Dauphin, Scott Clarkson
and Shawn Nicholson.
On Tuesday they travelled to
Huron Park, and came on the short
end of a 4-3 game. Jim McLean,
Stricker and Jeff Lewington scored
pass from Wright and Tim Beyer.
Before the end of the second,
Brussels had added three more to
lead going into the third by 4-2.
Alexander, with help from Steve
Henderson and Wright, was
responsible for the second, wile
Ryter came on to score two, the last
a short-handed, unassisted effort.
Assists on the other goals went to
Corey Bridges and Alexander.
Unfortunately with only 16
dressed for the game. Brussels ran
out of steam in the third, allowing
the Blackhawks to tie it up.
Management said the two games
saw the team playing well and
pushing for a victory. Goalie Jamie
Taylor came up big in both games
with many saves.
This weekend saw some change
behind the bench for the Bulls as
well with former assistant manager
Charlie Smith taking over the head
for Brussels. Assists were awarded
to Stricker (two) and Dauphin.
Coach Gary Dauphin said the
team played both games with only
nine skaters. "Given these
limitations, their efforts deserved to
be commended," he said.

from Milverton has been named to
take over Smith's spot.

seven wins and three losses with
two straight wins last week. After
scoring an 11-3 decision over
