Belgrave Brownie Ellen Procter looks happy to be in
charge of the delectable baking for sale at the annual
craft and bake show this past Saturday. The event was
hosted by the Belgrave Guides, Brownies and Sparks and
was well-attended by many 'crafty' shoppers.

Bosmans head west,
visit Albertan relatives
Last Thursday evening the
Brownies went to Alice Yuill's and
made tea biscuits, rice krispie
squares, chocolate suckers and jello
jigglers for craft and bake sale.
All the Sparks went to Lianne
Swanson's to also get ready for the
craft and bake sale. They made
jello jigglers, brownies and wrapped
chocolate candies. Prizes were won
by Janet Caesa of Dungannon,
Ellen Procter, RR 4, Brussels, Lois
Chamney, Anne Thompson of
Wingham and Josephine Lang,
Wingham.
The Afternoon Unit met Nov. 14
at the home of Mary Hunter with
11 members present.
Audrey Fenton opened the
meeting with a poem by Helen
Steines Rice entitled "Let Your
Wish Become a Prayer''.
Minutes of the October meeting
were read and approved. Kay
Roberts invited the unit to her
home for the Christmas meeting
Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.
Ada Taylor and Edith Vincent
will be in charge of the program.
Jean Pattison led the worship
service with the theme being
Armistice Day. She read a reply to
the poem In Flanders Fields and
also told of the first organized
selling of poppies. She also read a
4-H awards
presented
Nov. 26
Award recipients at this year's
Huron County 4-H Awards Day
will be part of the history of the
organization as it mark its 80th
anniversary.
The day will be filled with events
from award presentations to live
entertainment, huge balloon release
and a birthday cake ready for sam-
pling.
The anniversary party will take
place on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 2
p.m. until 4 p.m., at St. Anne's
Catholic Secondary School in Clin-
ton.
The 5th Annual "Home Sweet
Home" craft and bake sale sponsored
by Belgrave Sparks, Brownie and
Guides was held at the Belgrave
Community Centre on Saturday,
Nov. 18. It was well attended.
The winners of the Girl Guide
draws were first, Christmas wreath,
Isabel Logan; second prize, tin of
shortbread, Barbara Anderson.
The Guiding Units are grateful to
the parents and grandparents for
their generous donations of baking
and crafts and hours of help and
also to the many who attended.

Karrin Marks. She wrote it when
she was in Grade 7 and won first
prize. She then led in a prayer for
peace.
Mrs. Hunter was in charge Of the
Bible study which continued on
with the book of Matthew. Mrs.
Taylor presented the Mission Study
with the topic "All in a Day's
Work" dealing with how we define
and experience work is changing
dramatically in North America.
Mrs. Fenton closed the meeting by
reading the Christmas Daily Dozen
based on 1st Timothy Chapter 4.
Mrs. Hunter then served a
delicious dessert, fresh fruit and
beverage.

The WMs held its meeting
Monday, Nov. 6 at the home of
Margaret Siertsema. Alice
Nicholson opened the meeting with
all repeating the UCW "Purpose".
O God Our Help in Ages Past was
sung. Psalm 95 was read by Ivy
Cloakey.
Margaret Siertsema led in prayer.
Roll call was answered by a verse
on remembrance.
Margaret gave the secretary's
report. Ivy gave the treasurer's
report.
Alice Nicholson played a tape
on the Glad Tidings' 50th anniver-
sary and ideas on changing the
name of the WMS magazine.
Alice read a poem, "A Moment
of Prayer" to close the meeting.
The hostess served lunch and a
social time was enjoyed.
The next Shoot party will be held
on Friday, Nov. 24 at 1:30 p.m. in
the Women's Institute Hall.
Everyone is welcome.
Gordon and Louise Bosman
visited his brother Harold in
Edmonton, Alta. and also Louise's
sister Agatha Kasea, a patient at
Lynon Wood Extended Health Care
Centre, Edmonton.
Mabel's Moms met on Wednes-
day, Nov. 15 as usual. Those
attending were Wancta Leishman
and Melissa; Andrea Stevenson,
Mathew and Tyler; ,Kim Higgins
and Laura; Linda Hess and Andrew;
Pat Konings, Olivia and Eliza; Betts
Higgins, Megan, Melissa and Kate;
Lila Procter and Ben and Rev. Mary
Jane Hobden. The topic for
discussion was "religion".
Recently Ashley Irwin of Ash-
field Township spent the weekend
with her grandmother, Betty Irwin.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin MacDonald
of Brussels were dinner guests last
Sunday at the home of Ruth
Johnston.
