The Ontario Federation of Snow- mobile Clubs (OFSC) is launching Get Ready for Snowmobiling Week, Nov. 20 to 26. Local clubs are checking the many miles of local trails, staking and marking as they go, says B&W Trailblazer member Rick Konarski, of Blyth. The Blyth SnowTravellers are also marking trails and mending bridges in preparation for snowmo- biling season, says member Bruce Howson. Aside from regular maintenance, the SnowTravellers are making plans for a raffle on a snowmobile, says Howson. "With snowmobiling Ontario's fastest growing winter recreation and an economic activity which generates a half a billion in related spending in rural snowbelt commu- nities, OFSC is pleased to promote the special week," says OFSC Pres- ident Bert Grant. During Get Ready for Snowmobiling week, the Blyth SnowTravellers and B&W Trailblazers will be preparing trails by placing new marker stakes and repairing bridges. Riders raise funds for children Ontario snowmobilers are turning to its 165,000 family up their sleds in anticipation of across the province. Snowarama '96, to help raise So ride for money for children with physical disabilities. Now in its 22nd year, Snowarama, the "ultimate snow- mobile ride", is the largest event of its kind in Ontario with more than 70 events across the province for The Easter Seal Society. Snowarama '96 promises to be the most exciting yet with terrific fundraising prizes for riders at all events. "Snowmobilers are in for a real treat, especially if they bring a buddy to ride for the kids too," says Judi Simons, provincial Snow- arama manager for The Easter Seal Society. "This year, snowmobilers who bring a buddy to participate in Snowarama have a great oppor- tunity to win a brand new snowmobile," continues Simons. "And, as snowmobilers prepare for "Get Ready for Snowmobiling Week", taking place Nov. 20 to Nov. 26, we hope they are thinking about the kids with physical disabilities who will benefit if they participate in Snowarama '96." Since its inception in 1975,1 Snowarama has raised more than $12 million for children with physical disabilities and their' families. Through an excellent. partnership with the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) and the support of local Easter Seal service clubs and' enthusiastic volunteers, Snowarama has developed into the most anticipated winter event boasting a major series of province-wide snowmobile rides.
