Homecoming rolling on Enthusiasm rarely seen in Blyth has sparked good progress in preparations for Homecoming 96, says committee assistant secretary William Manning. The committee gathered Nov. 18 to discuss several options for activ- ities on homecoming weekend as Well as the difficulties in locating former Blyth students. Committee members John Stew- art and Manning spoke with William Hearn, chair of the Clinton High/Central Huron Secondary School reunion committee, to request the names of students who had attended their event. Hearn said it had been decided information concerning their stu- dents would be secured and released to no one, however, due to the circumstances, the Clinton 'Reunion committee agreed to release names of Blyth area stu- dents after the Blyth committee had done a search of their own. The homecoming committee will also utilize newspaper ads to locate former students. Committees were formed to arrange food catering and sugges- tions were made for activities and entertainment each evening of the event. For Friday, Aug. 9, it was sug- gested an outdoor dance could be held at the Lions Pavilion or just a hospitality centre. Both the Blyth Lions and Legion will be contacted regarding enter- tainment on Saturday night follow- ing a parade. Local organizations, businesses and families may be asked if they could sponsor a band for the parade. Sunday activities may include an interdenominational church service and the viewing of mementoes at the school. Other items to be researched include the cost of a street-wide banner, the possibility of people movers and a fireworks display.
