The staff and pupils of Walton
Public School extended their
sympathies to Laura Scott whose
father died on Nov. 3.
The school held an assembly and
each class did a Remembrance Day
presentation. Ross Bennett, who
represents the Brussels Legion, was
guest speaker at the Assembly. He
recalled a young child telling what
Remembrance Day was all about.
The youth had said that it was for
remembering those who were killed
in the war. Mr. Bennett said that we
need to live peacefully together and
Another successful euchre night
was held on Nov. 9.
Winners were: first, Tom and
Eileen Sloan; second, Bill and
Marjory Humphries; third, Mack
and Janet Webster; most lone
hands, Millie Johnston, and Lavern
Hoegy.
The recently formed Huron/
Bruce chapter of Mothers Against
Drunk Driving (MADD) will
launch its 1995 Red Ribbon
Campaign on Friday, Dec. 1 at
McDonalds Restaurant in Goderich.
Honorary Red Ribbon '95 chairman
Phil Main, CKNX-FM morning
man, will kick off the campaign at 6
p.m. and will be joined by Paul
Steckle, MP and other local
dignitaries and personalities.
The Red Ribbon Campaign raises
awareness of the problem of drunk
driving by asking those concerned
with protecting their families and
others from drinking drivers to
display a distinctive MADD red
ribbon on their vehicle. The
campaign is the largest, single
fundraising endeavour supporting
the effective and (sadly) necessary
victim support, educational
programs, and legislative lobbying
activities of Mothers Against
Drunk Driving.

hall open and if the school were to
offer newer, better facilities, people
would rather go there, says hall
board member Margaret Mclnroy.
This may be a community-based
project, but doesn't have to be a
community-competitive project. It
will be a room for the children,
says Craig.
A steering committee, which is in
place, will explore the options
available to the school and take the
suggestions to the Management
Committee of the school board.
Both, Trustees McDonald and
Pauline Siemon, trustee for
Seaforth and McKillop Twp., a
member of the Management Com-
mittee, said they would take the
requests of Walton to the board.
In summing up her wish for Wal-
ton to have a gym, Crocker says,
"The quality of education the chil-
dren receive is no less because
that it is up to all to make this
happen.
Cassandra Banks, Ricky Pethick,
Mandy Mitchell, Carrie Leonhardt
and Nichelas Robinson represented
the Walton School at the Brussels
Legion Remembrance Day service
on Nov. 11.
The pupils have been quite
excited to have some gymnastic
equipment. It has been borrowed
from Seaforth for the month of
November.
The Early Years class discussed
peace and the things we can do to
keep peace. They made poppies

the country. They also had a chance
to watch the horse show and saw

driving in this area.
Brian Dent of McDonald's in
Goderich will donate $1 of every
Big Mac or Pizza Meal purchased
between the hours of 5 p.m. and
8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 at his
restaurant. MADD volunteers will
be in attendance during these times
to provide information and litera-
ture about MADD, its concerns and
what you can do to help safeguard
you and your family from the
impaired drivers pervasive in our
communities.
Everyone is invited to join the
MADD people, enjoy a Big Mac or
Pizza Meal at Mcdonald's in
Goderich, and fly a red ribbon to
show support.
MADD is currently seeking
volunteers to help with the Red
Ribbon Campaign in the towns and
villages across Huron/Bruce. If you
can help or need information or
assistance relating to any problem
involving drinking and driving,
please call MADD Huron/Bruce at

about this.
Last Thursday the Mennonite
Central Community did a presenta-
tion on the Mexican Mennonite
Community, teaching about their
culture and background. There was
representation from different
groups and areas at the informative
meeting.

Nov. 12 were Ron and Nicole
Stevenson, congratulations. Ron's
grandma Betty McCall relates that
there was quite a difference in the
weather this past weekend than on
Ron and Nicole's wedding one year
ago, as the sun shone and tempera-
tures were mild.
Alice and Allan Searle were
greeters at Duff's United Church on
Nov. 12. Amanda Badley helped
with the worship service by
lighting the Christ Candle. Rev.
Randy Banks welcomed everyone
and announced that on Dec. 3 there
will be an 'Advent and Christmas
music night' with Ron Klusmeier at
8 p.m. at the church. Lunch will
follow.
For those familiar with the green
hymn book, Ron Klusmeir has
written the music for quite a few of
the hymns.
The choir sang, Sweet Grass and
Candle a Ron Klusmeier song.
Rev. Banks called the young
worshippers to the front and asked
for a volunteer to draw a church.
Adam McClure put up his hand and
got the job.
While he drew Rev. Banks asked
the kids if they knew which movie
had, "If you build it he will come"
in it. They guessed Field of
Dreams.
He told them that that came to
him when he was reading about the
Prophet Haggai who called the
people to have a vision of
rebuilding the temple.
He asked the children whether
God would be in Walton if there
wasn't a church building. They all
agreed that He would be there. We
don't need a building because God
is in all of us, but it is a place to be
together, to share in the experiences
of worshipping God.
Neil McGavin was the scripture
reader and Rev. Banks's sermon
was called, 'Let there be visions.'
