Hullett council officially opens municipal building
The new municipal building in
the Township of Hullett was
officially opened Nov. 4 by Paul
Steckle, MP for Huron-Bruce and
Thomas J. Cunningham, Reeve,
Township of Hullett.
The 2,500 square-foot, eight-
room facility located on County
Road 15 includes municipal offices,
council chambers, community
meeting rooms and storage space. It
replaces the existing municipal
offices located in the public works
garage.
The project received $106,375
from the Canada/Ontario
infrastructure Works program with
each level of government (federal,
provincial and municipal) provid-
ing one-third of the funding.
"Less than one year ago, we
announced that infrastructure
funding for this project had been
approved," said Steckle. "Today,
with great pleasure, I join my
colleagues to open this new build-
ing, secure in the knowledge it will
benefit the residents of Hullett far
into the future."
In a letter, Helen Johns, MPP for
Huron and Parliamentary Assistant
to the Minister of Health, said: "I
would like to extend greetings from
the provincial government and
congratulate you on your new
awakowsom xrate sou gattle
office. This is an investment for the
township, and the residents of
Huron, as it enhances economic
competitiveness and community
services. I am positive the township
will put this office and building to
excellent use in the years to come."
"We are glad that the people of
Hullett could share in the
infrastructure program," said Reeve
Cunningham. "The benefits will
remain for generations to come."
Canada/Ontario Infrastructure
Works is a $2.1 billion cost-shared
program designed to improve local
infrastructure, and is expected to
create approximately 40,000 direct
and indirect jobs.
