Through her dedication to per- sonal development and community involvement one young lady from Blyth has earned the Duke of Edin- burgh award. Erica Clark, daughter of Lavern and Joan Clark, was honoured at a reception in Toronto, on Nov. 4, where Lieutenant Governor Henry Jackman presented her with her Sil- ver Duke of Edinburgh Award. Erica is just one of 69 young peo- ple from across the province who received the award for attaining personally established goals in the Seventy-five enthusiastic skaters registered for the Blyth Skate-a- thon held on Oct. 28 at the Blyth Arena. The Skate-a-thon raised over $2,500 in pledges. Awards were given to the top four skaters seven and under, and eight and over, who raised the most pledges. In the seven and under group, five-year-old Devin Jenkins was the top skater raising $157 in pledges. Second went to Josh The Optimist Club of Blyth and District is sponsoring an Asthma Information Clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Bainton Art Gallery, Blyth Memorial Hall from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Joanne Riehl of Professional Respiratory Home Care Service of Clinton in conjunction with the Huron Perth Lung Association will be giving a presentation of the symptoms and treatments of this breathing disorder. The intent of the information evening is to educate the community members who are coaches, caregivers, sponsors, leaders and organizers of youth activities, of this health condition.
