The Cooks were married in Belgrave on Oct. 17, 1945. Part of Sunday's celebration was a special visit by the Brussels Legion Pipe Band. Cooks celebrate golden aniversary Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hill, Jeffrey and friend, Richard, and Robbie of RR 1, Tavistock on Thanksgiving Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Henderson of London, Miss Iris Johnson of London, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stopforth and Alexandrea of Oakville, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayberry and Darryl of Londesboro, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Procter, Karen and Kevin of RR 5, Brussels, Mrs. Elizabeth Procter, Belgrave and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Zettler, Sherry, Amanda and Alicia of RR 4, Walkerton. Douglas Bieman of Kincardine visited last Friday with his mother Agnes Bieman. On Thanksgiving Sunday George Inglis and Agnes Bieman were supper guests at the home of John and Evelyn Leppington and family of Clinton. Sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Murray Scott in the passing away of Wilma's father, William Dale. May your thoughts and prayers be with them in their time of sorrow. Thanksgiving dinner guests with Keith and Bonnie Pletch of Teeswater were Kevin, Barb, Michelle and Tania Pletch, David, Melanie, Scott, Meagan, and Ben Pletch, Thelma Pletch, and Marie Fraser all of Belgrave. Also their family was home, Ryan, Jeff, Kerry Pletch and Scott Tomlinson. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill of Belgrave and Mr. Clarence Stokes of Wingham spent Thanksgiving Sunday' with the Bruce Elliott family of Arkona. On Thanksgiving Monday, Ken and Margaret Hodgson of Nobleton visited relatives in the area: Olive Bolt, Elaine Winter, Margaret Nickel, Edith Stokes and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill. A regular meeting of the Belgrave Community Club was held on Friday, Oct. 6 in the Community Centre with 28 members present. President Bob Grasby presided. The meeting openecrwith the singing of 0 Canada, accompanied by Freida Johnson on the piano. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted. The following names were added to the nominating committee report and the report was adopted unanimously: Garner Nicholson, vice-president; Jack Van Camp, club representative on the Community Centre Board; Laura Johnston and Norma Moore, as auditors. The treasurer's report was given by Mary Taylor. The following October anniversaries were acknowledge: Albert and Jean Cook, 50 years married; Stanley and Leona Black, 52 years married; Gamer and Alice Nicholson, 53 years married; while Annie Cook and Lois Anderson celebrate October birthdays. It was decided to have a catered Christmas dinner for the club on Dec. 8. The next meeting will be Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. Thirteen members of the club Thanksgiving dinner guests on Saturday at the home of Freda Johnston were Doug, Sue and Shelly Johnston of Lucan, Brad, Brenda and Jackie McCann of Brampton and Rod and Tara Johnston of Windsor. Thanksgiving guests on Sunday with Mrs. Mabel Wheeler were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Trigger, Carson- ville, Michigan, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Dal Branco, Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Don Rae, Guelph, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Jones, Weston, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Makas, and Alicia, London, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charter, Teeswater, and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Coultes, Wingham. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill accompanied Mr. and Mrs. John McIntosh on a weekend trip to Sprucedale, north of Huntsville to visit Mike McIntosh. Mike is involved in rehabilitating wounded or orphaned bears back to the wilds as soon as they are judged to be independent enough to survive on their own. On Sunday Mr. Brendan Price of Ireland visited at the McIntosh home. He was instrumental in having the dancing bear, Molly, moved from a circus environment in Britain to Mike's place. Mr. Price was pleased to see the bears again. Congratulations from friends, relatives, and neighbours to Albert and Jean Cook who were married 50 years on Oct. 17. Karen Procter is a patient in the University Hospital in London. Friends and relatives wish Karen a speedy recovery. Dr. Ron Taylor of St. John's, Newfoundland attended the wedding of his niece Leanne Dusky in New Hamburg on Oct. 7. He spent two weeks with his parents Jack and Mary Taylor. attended the Fall Rally of the USC held at the Legion Hall in Exeter Oct. 5. Fifty years ago, on Oct. 17, 1945, Jean McCallum and Albert Cook, both of East Wawanosh Twp., were wed. The bride, daughter of Ester (Bruce) and John F. McCallum and the groom, son of Etta (Black) and Fred Cook, were united by Rev. Dunlop at the United Church manse in Belgrave. Edith Cook, sister of the groom, and James McCallum, brother of the bride attended the happy cou- ple. After a honeymoon in Niagara A. Gaunt earns most lone hands The first euchre of the fall and winter season was held on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the Women's Institute Hall. There were 13 tables in play and the winners were as follows: high lady, Debbie Pfeiffer; second high lady, Agnes Gaunt; most lone hands, Norma Strong; most twos, AileenLeddy; high man, Gordon Thedorf; second high man, Stewart Musgrove; most lone hands, Doug Hemingway; most twos, Oscar Schefter. The next euchre will be Wednesday, Oct. 18. Everyone welcome. Falls and Cochrane, the newlyweds settled into farming on Conc. 6 of East Wawanosh Twp. They later moved to the village of Belgrave. The Cooks had three children, James, Bonnie and Murray. To mark this golden anniversary, a celebration was held at the Insti- tute Hall in Belgrave where guests were serenaded by the Brussels Pipe Band.
