Down and dirty
Youth from the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship Church played a dirty game of volleyball
recently at a mud volleyball tournament in Kimberley, north-east of Markdale. From left, are:
Tobi Farrell, Wingham; Elias Valdez, Bluevale; Brandon Anger, Wingham; Andrea Hiller,
Whitechurch; Dave Becker, Brussels; Kristi Procter, Belgrave; Tania Farrell, Wingham. Front
is Lyle Hemingway, Brussels.
Last night spent in Montreal
Virginia Stright was soloist at
Auburn Missionary Church on
Sunday, Aug. 13. She sang On
Your Spirit Wings.
Paul Humphries of New Tribes
Mission was the guest speaker. His
message, "Royal Responses to the
Rude and Ruthless" had scripture
from Matthew 5: 38-42. In the
gospel of Matthew, he said, Jesus is
revealed as King of the Jews. When
Jesus said 'I tell you' it shows
authority, but when He says 'I tell
you not to resist an evil person', it
is a contradiction. Yet God never
contradicts Himself, Humphries

in Clinton Hospital.
Sympathy is extended to Lorenzo
and Norma Ramirez and family in
the passing of Norma's mother in
the Philippines, Aug. 9.
Baptism Sunday is Sept. 24.
Requests for baptism should be
made to Rev. Diamond.
Greeters at Blyth United Church,
Sunday, Aug. 6 were Les and
Shirley Rutledge. Ushers were Joan
and Lavern, Erica and Ross Clark.
Francis Bearss was in charge of the
nursery.
The opening hymn Come Let Us
Sing to the Lord our God was
said. Jesus never contradicts
Himself.
The world is out to take revenge
but the royal response was given on
the cross when Jesus said 'Forgive
them for they know not what they
do.'
The natural birth brings us into
the earthly kingdom but the
spiritual birth brings us into the
heavenly or spiritual kingdom. The
grace that brought us to Christ will
help us live for Him.

followed by prayer of Confession
in unison.
Two duets The Mansion over the
Hilltop and Beautiful City were
sung by Garth Walden and Cheryl
Cronin accompanied by Phyllis
Boak, director of music.
Hymn Joyful, Joyful, We Adore
You was sung. The New Testament
lesson, Colossians 3, 1-11 was read
by Lenora Davidson. Gospel lesson
from Luke 12, 13-21 was read by
Rev. Diamond. The theme of his
sermon was "Making Good, or
being rich in God".
Pastoral Prayer and Lord's Prayer
were followed by the closing hymn
Fight a Good Fight.

nest year after year. It takes four
years to become a breeding adult.
The gestation period of the eggs is
44 days and they leave the nest
when they are three weeks old.
Sunny weather and beautiful
scenery followed for the rest of the
way home. They stayed at

night and Montreal on the last
night.
