Myth Public School Blyth valedictorians discuss challenges By Tammy Walker and Jamie Black Tonight marks the end of one challenge and the beginning of another. It seems like just yesterday we began our nine years of education here at Blyth Public School. Good evening ladies and gentlemen, special guests, teachers and fellow students, welcome to our graduation ceremony. It's hard to believe that after tonight we will head off in our separate ways, leaving everything but our nine years of memories behind us. During these short nine years our class has gone through a lot together. To mention all of the memories in such a short time would be virtually impossible. We never had any major problems because we were the good class, unlike recent classes we never did anything seriously wrong. I mean there was always the silly little things such as when the girls were in Grade 1, we were convinced that the person next to the school was a witch. We spent our recesses by the road with binoculars and note pads writing down everything we saw. Was the package the man put in his car a body? We sure thought so! So when we got in trouble for being by the road we thought we had a good explanation. For some reason the teacher didn't think so. Then there was Matt and Trevor during lunch hour. They would pick a subject every day to argue about while eating their lunch. The amount of time to go one centimetre while travelling the speed of light, who could eat more slices of pizza, the exact weight of an Olympic hammer and the maximum distance it could be thrown, the tallest basketball player ever and more such abnormalities. Added to out antics were the boys American Gladiator craze, the April Fool's Day switching chairs, which didn't work, this year's boy girl topic for graduation differences, the recent incident with little black tops missing from chairs, certain people being found in certain closets, our many exciting trips to East Wawanosh Conservation Area (boy weren't those trips exciting!), Allan hugging Mrs. Laurie, George the imaginary friend and our recent year end trip to Sudbury. During those years of excitement, we have had many teachers guiding us in the fight direction. I remember the very first day of school. We were all terrified and quite nervous, but with the encouraging and loving words of our kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Continued on page 20 Jamie Black Class of '95 The Blyth graduating class for 1995 is, back row, from left: Daniel Sauve, Joey Schmidt, Trevor Brooks, Adam Blair, Allan Gibbons, Nathan Hubbard, Dennis Higgins.
