Good eats, good cause
From left: Brian Oldfield, Stephen Todd and Cory Passmore had a great time at the
fundraising barbecue outside Brussels IGA on Saturday. The effort, which raises money for
the Children's Hospital of Western Ontairo was initiated by Julie and Gerry Jutzi and family
three years ago in appeciation for the care given their sons, Craig and Trevor. The
community involvement in the barbecue has grown every year and store owner Allan Teeft
says it will be an annual event in memory of Criag Jutzi.

Majestic
takes
mystery
tour
It was a beautiful day for a drive
as the Majestic Women's Institute
started off on a a mystery tour on
May 10.
The first stop was at Country
Patchworks, a new store to open on
May 11 at the home of Rosemary
Terpstra's at RR 3, Brussels.
Numerous quilts, placemats,
pillows, material and other articles
were on display. Mrs. Terpstra's
store will be open on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday.
After surveying the store, the
members were taken on a tour to
the milking parlour on the Terpstra
farm. It amazed everyone the new
operation of milking the cows and
the size of the milk tank.
On the road again, this time they
travelled west until they stopped at
Anna Mae's Restaurant in
Millbank. Following lunch a short
business meeting took place. Doris
McCall gave the district director's
report. There will be tickets sold on
the quilt to be drawn on Sept. 20.
A quick visit was made at the
Millbank cheese factory before
heading on.
Outside of Newton, the Solomon
Yantzi farm was found to be an
interesting piece of history. Here,
they make carriages almost from
scratch. One had just been
completed that would likely be
used for weddings and funerals. •
Every detail of the carriage was
unique from the upholstery, the
velvet interiors to fine painting
details on the outside. The
members were shown through the
different parts of the shop where
the work was done.
Leaving the Yantzi's, they headed
east to Hwy. 23. Just off the
highway was the last stop called
Highlight Flowers and
Greenhouses. The part owner
explained the work that was done
in the different seasons.
Beautiful flowers were
everywhere, thus prompting the
members to buy a few, which was a
lovely way to end the day.
The next meeting will be held on
June 7 at 2 p.m. in the Brussels
Library.
Melville Presbyterian WMS met
at the home of Leona Armstrong
for their May meeting.
Marguerite Krauter was in charge
of the devotions. The theme for the
meeting was "Mothers". She read
several poems and the hymn When
Mothers of Salem was sung.
Isabel Gibson led in prayer.
Mary Huether and Mrs. T. Car-
diff read scriptures from Luke 1.
Mrs. Krauter gave an excellent
paper on "Elizabeth" - the mother
of John the Baptist.
The hymn Happy the Home
where God is There was sung. This
part of the meeting closed by
repeating the Mizpah benediction.
President, Helen Elliott presided
for the business. Members were
reminded of the quilt auction,
which will take place on July 1 at
Camp Kintail. They were told that
a new Bible is being published.
Mrs. Elliott gave a reading from the
Record, on public relations.
