PAGE 15 Brussels Livestock report Cattle prices off $2 to $3 arm Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending March 31 were: fed cattle, 735; cows, 245; veal calves, 200; sheep and goats, 366; stockers, 1,228 and pigs, light run. The market at Brussels Livestock saw top quality cattle selling steady with other classes selling $2 - $3 lower. Cows sold $1 lower. Bulls were selling steady. Thursday saw veal selling under pressure. Lambs sold on a good active trade. Friday calves were selling steady with the yearlings $2 - $3 lower. There were 506 steers on offer selling from $90 to $95 to the high of $106. Nineteen steers consigned by Jim Howatt, Londesborough, averaging 1,458 lbs. sold for an average of $96.27 with sales to $106. Forty-two steers consigned by G. A. Stewart Farms, Ripley, averaging 1,166 lbs. sold for an average of $94.16 with sales to $102. Forty-one steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, averaging 1,414 lbs. sold for an average of $92.55 with sales to $101.50. Sixty-one steers consigned by Mac Willits, Wingham, averaging 1,378 lbs. sold for an average of $93.69 with sales to $101. Thirteen steers consigned by James McCarthy, Granton, averaging 1,439 lbs. sold for an average of $91.85 with sales to $100. Twelve steers consigned by Don Culbert, Dungannon, averaging 1,434 lbs. sold for an average of $93.16 with sales to $99.25. Twelve steers consigned by Dale and John During the month of March the Brussels Agricultural Society has been busy. At meetings the biggest discus- sions were on ideas for fundraising. It was decided to have a "Penny Auction" in May. The items will be on display at the former Constituency Office on May 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20. Donations of items will be greatly appreciated and can be made by calling Leona McDonald at 887-6988 for information. The draws will be made on the last day, May 20. Taylor Farms, Creemore, averaging 1,323 lbs. sold for an average of $91.65 with sales to $98.50. One steer consigned by Dan Hayden, Goderich, weighing 1,555 lbs. sold for $97. Two steers consigned by Randy Pentland, Goderich, averaging 1,145 lbs. sold for an average of $94.41 with sales to $96.75. There were 218 heifers on offer selling from $90 to $95 to the high of $96.75.
