Pastor speaks of love
Jordin Rutledge, 9, of Auburn, receives his Junior Citizen
of the Year award from Lieutenant Governor Henry N.R.
Jackman at the annua Ontario Community Newspaper
Association convention last weekend. Jordin, who played
an important role in saving his mother's life after she was
shot during a robbery attempt, was one of 11 young
individuals from Ontario honoured for spirit, courage and
determination.

by transfer of certificate and by
profession of faith. The Sacrament
of Holy Communion will also be
celebrated.
Blyth firefighters were called to a
chimney fire in Hullett on Monday
night at 7:40 p.m.
Rev. Paul Ross conducted the
service at Knox United Church
with Nancy Park as organist. The
invitation to worship was read
alternately and the opening chorus
sung. The hymn that followed was
The Church is Wherever God's
People.
Rev. Ross gave the prayers
before the choral response, then
had conversation with the children
on "Love", which was followed by
the children's chorus.
Come Let Us Sing of a Wonderful
Love was sung. The scriptures were
read followed by the hymn My
Faith Looks Up to Thee.
Rev. Ross's sermon was
"Experiencing God's Love". He
also gave the prayers followed by
The Lord's Prayer repeated in
unison.
The offering was received by
Greg Park and Bob Worsell then
dedicated with song. The
congregation sang Jesus is the Man
Who Cares for Others.
Rev. Ross pronounced the Bene-
diction and the singing of Amens
concluded the service.
Members of Auburn UCW are
reminded that donations to the
Community Care Project (layette)
should be handed in by April 7 to
Ruth Armstrong, Grace Cartwright
or Jean Plaetzer.

wins euchre
novelty prize
Five tables played at the euchre
party held at the Community Hall,
Tuesday evening, March 28.
Winners were: high lady, Heather
Hakkers; low lady, Mildred
Lawlor; men's high, Grace
Cartwright, playing as a man; low
man, Edgar Howatt; novelty prize,
Katie Boughton.
Euchre is played every Tuesday
evening.
Fire Chief Paul Josling said the
fire was extinguished and there was
no damage to the home, which is
located on Lot 22, Conc. 8.

Jr. Citizenship Award
For a young man who has taken
his fame in stride, Jordin Rutledge,
nine, of Auburn was most im-
pressed with the swimming pool at
the hotel where he stayed in Toron-
to, while there to receive his Junior
Citizenship Award from Lieu-
tenant-Governor Lincoln Alexan-
der.
Jordin was nominated for the
award after he was instrumental in
saving his mother's life when she
