Wawanosh settles minor variance issue The new West Wawanosh coun­ cil was put to work quickly at the Dec. 5 inaugural meeting when a Committee of Adjustment was required to settle a minor variance issue. The variance was approved for property owned by Alex Chisholm, allowing an addition on the west side of an existing shop building to have a reduced side yard. The mini­ mum allowance was reduced to 1.2 meters though the variance stipulat­ ed that any new Structures not a part of this application would have to conform to the setback require­ ments determined by the applicable zone. The building design shall also ensure water is retained on the property involved. The land use designation for Part Lot 24, Cone. 6 was recommended for change from agricultural and natural environment to extraction resources. The recommendation will go before Huron County coun­ cil. Council will advise the supcrin- E. Wawanosh selects reps With the beginning of a new ses­ sion for East Wawanosh council, representatives were appointed to the various boards and committees at the Dec. 1 meeting. Newly elected Reeve Donald Schultz and Clerk-Treasurer Winona Thompson will sit on the committee to review the county planning fee structure. Originally set to begin discussions in 1996, the county moved the plans for­ ward, hoping to begin the review in January. No drainage superintendent was chosen during the meeting because both applicants had failed to include an expected wage when fil­ ing. The decision was deferred to January. Council supported a resolution by county council regarding incom­ plete coverage of the election by CKNX, CFPL and CHWI televi­ sion. A letter of complaint was sent to Southwestern Ontario Broadcasting Corporation and Blackbum Group requesting improved coverage by radio, television and the daily Lon­ don newspaper in the future. Couple opens new business A Brussels area couple has ven­ tured into their own business with the opening of Microman, a com­ puter company, in Listowel. Darlene and Kevin Nichol opened the store Dec. 7 which offers their customers everything from programs to computer compo­ nents. The product lines include Hewlett-Packard, Canon and Toshi­ ba, with programs available in a wide range of subjects and games for Sega Genesis and Nintendo.
