Brussels Tykes lose
The Brussels L'll Ringers
travelled to Blyth on Nov. 26 to
take on the Belgrave Tykes. The
Belgrave team bulged the net
several times thanks to two very
strong players, Kyle Procter and
Jeremy Robinson.
At the final buzzer the score
ended 10 to 3 for Belgrave. Great
stick handling and shooting skill
gave Kyle Procter five goals for his
team. Lots of speed and heads up
play allowed Jeremy Robinson to
score four goals. Nicky Walker
added a nifty wraparound goal to
add to her team's cause.
Brent Wheeler scored two goals
for the Brussels squad. Rookie
Andrew McDonald was all smiles
after scoring his first ever goal.
Newcomer Tyler Jutzi joined the
club recently and fit into the team's
play as if he'd been here from the
start. Four-year-old Cayli Hunt
played her first game with plenty of
determination, never missing a
shift, and proud to sport the famous
No. 99.
Both teams provided the fans
with plenty of entertainment.
The L'll Ringers' next game will
be Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. in Monkton.
Brussels Atoms Reps
down Goderich 9-0 Sliding by
Friday night the Brussels Atom
Reps trounced a visiting Goderich
, team 9-0.
Brian Oldfield had another big
night scoring five goals. Nolan
Krotz had two goals and two
assists, while Darryl Houston and
Chris Coulter rounded out the
scoring. Matt McCall recorded his
third shutout of the year.
Saturday the Atoms travelled to
Tara for their first tournament of
the year. Brussels played Keady in
their first game, with lots of end to
end action. Only one goal made it
through the markers in the first two
periods when Oldfield scored on a
pass from Andy VanBeek at the
6:10 mark.
Keady tied the score with 3:23
left in the third period, however
Brussels boys scored two quick
goals with 30 seconds to jump
ahead. Oldfield scored both goals
with help from Vanbeek. As the
buzzer sounded the boys had a 3-1
victory in game one.
In game two Brussels forced
Tiverton and hammered them 12-2.
Brussels scored quick and often
in this game. Stephen Todd opened
the scoring at the 8:23 mark on a
pass from Chris Coulter. Krotz
made it 2-0 at the seven minute
mark, then with 5:38 remaining in
the first Oldfield scored on a nice
three way passing play from Krotz
and Robert Kerr.
Twenty-four seconds into the
second Vanbeek scored his first
goal of the year. Oldfield scored

3 straight
After much improvement, since
the start of season, the Blyth Atoms
have won their last three games.
On Nov. 16 Goderich II came to
town and the home team outscored
their opponents 6-0. This gave
Ryan Lee his first shutout of the
season, and the boys their first win.
Game two was played in
Goderich on Nov. 20. The score of
this game was a little closer, with
neither team scoring in the first
period.
Al the 7:41 mark of the second,
Tyler Wilson scored on a nice pass
from Derek Cook.
There wasn’t another goal scored
until 14:03 of the third period. Matt
Anderson got this one unassisted,

the next three goals in two minutes
to make the score 7-0.
At the 9:50 mark Krotz scored on
a helper from Coulter. Tiverton
scored the next two goals, then
with three minutes remaining Chris
Blake scored on a pass from
Coulter.
Oldfield scored from Darryl
Houston with 2:45 remaining.
Houston and Kerr rounded out the
scoring.
This advanced the Atoms to the
A final Sunday against the Shallow
Lake team, which is undefeated this
year. It was going to be a real
challenge for Brussels. Oldfield
opened the scoring 15 seconds into
the game on a nice pass from
Krotz. Unfortunately Shallow Lake
tied the score 20 seconds later.
With 3:18 left in the first Oldfield
scored again from Krotz and
Fischer.
Brussels got a two goal lead as
Oldfield completed the hat-trick
from Blake at 6:50 of the second.
End-to-end action was the name of
this game as Shallow Lake kept
coming but Matt McCall closed the
door. Shallow Lake's Jeff
McDermid scored two quick goals
within 30 seconds to tie the score
going into the third.
The action continued but Shallow
Lake scored early in the third to
take a 4-3 lead. With time winding
down, Shallow Lake sealed off the
victory with 52 seconds left to win
the A Championship 5-3.
Congratulations boys on some
exciting hockey and capturing the
A Championship Runner Up.
A Goderich Tyke sneaks one past the Blyth defenseman while the goalie has his eye on the
puck and ready for the save. The two young teams faced off in a Blyth match on Saturday
afternoon.
Brussels Bulls scratch out tie
The Brussels Bulls and the
Walkerton Blackhawks don't like
each other and that was very
apparent Sunday afternoon when
the two teams battled to a 6-6 tie.
In three meetings this season the
Bulls have lost by one goal to the
Hawks and tied twice.
It was a see-saw battle that saw
the Bulls' lack of discipline result
in three Walkerton powerplay
goals. But the Bulls battled back
powerplay goals in an 8-4 loss.
Captain Greg McNevan had three
for the Bulls while Mike MacKay
got his first of the year on a
knuckleballer from the point.
Coach Scott Pettigrew said it was
a frustrating weekend, "We have
been trying to play with more
emotion but the players have to
channel it in the right direction. We
are retaliating too much and it is
costing us."
The Bulls now sport a record of
6-5-4 for 16 points and are tied for
fourth with Wingham. Walkerton is
a point ahead but has played three
more games. Hanover has moved
into second with 19 points.
The Bulls released Walton native
Chris Stevenson back to the
Brussels Juveniles. Coach Petti
grew said the defenceman did not
develop as quick as the team would

and eventually evened the score al
four all. A one minute breakdown
in the third, however, saw
Walkerton go back up 6 - 4 before
Brussels staged a late comeback.
The Bulls pulled to within one
with just over two minutes to play
when Nate Bender slapped home
his second goal of the game, but the
Bulls took a penalty and looked
doomed having to play shorthanded
for the rest of the contest. However
with the goalie out defenceman
Brandon Alviano slipped home the
tying goal with only six seconds
left on the clock.
Josh Alexander played a strong
game scoring one and assisting on
three others. Ryan Wright scored
the other Brussels goal.
Friday night the Bulls walked
into Hanover looking for their third
straight win of the season against
the Barons but gave up five
