Hospital Auxiliary hosts show
The Wingham Golf and Curling
Club was decorated for the festive
season Wednesday, Nov. 17 when
a sell-out crowd enjoyed a
luncheon and a preview of
Christmas fashions sponsored by
the auxiliary of the Wingham and
District Hospital as a fundraising
event.
Through the co-operation of the
manager Mr. Ron Knight of the
Wingham Golf and Curling Club
and the auxiliary all proceeds will
go to projects of the auxiliary at the
hospital.
Past President Mary Lou
Cameron welcomed all present
after which Past President Marilyn
Wood said grace. A very tasty
lunch was served.
As Wingham Hospital is a
district hospital the fashions and
models were from Wingham and
district stores.
Mrs. Carol Helfenstein, editor
and publisher of The Teeswater
News was the commentator for the
event. As she commentated she
suggested that this festive season
we should try and shop in our own
area and support our local stores.
Mrs. Myrla Frank, Wingham,
played Christmas music on the
piano while the models walked
amongst the tables showing off the
outfits they were modelling.
Several draw prizes were made
and donated by auxiliary members
as well as some donated by mer
chants. Mrs. Jean Betts of RR 2,
Teeswater was guest soloist and
was accompanied by Mrs. Helen
Keith, Teeswater, on the piano.
