II woodworking club was held on
Nov. 17 at the home of Mary
Sanders. The meeting opened with
the 4-H pledge and 17 members
answered the roll call by showing a

why they liked it.
After reading the minutes they
chose a name for the club, The
Woodchucks.
The name and picture design was
by Lia Sanders.
Members then turned the meeting
over to Michael Sanders who
showed different tools from his
workshop and what they were used
for. They discussed the difference
between the rip-saw and the cross
cut saw, back saw and coping saw
and different levels and squares.
Each member was given a brown
paper bag and instructions for the
bird house. They had to measure
and draw the pattern pieces on the
brown paper.
Wilma showed how to cut out the
pattern pieces on wood with the jig
saw. They brought out their sanded
apples and applied a coat of scaler
to them.
