The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge No. 315 took place on Nov. 22 with Noble Grand Jane Hall presiding. District Deputy President Jean Hodgert was present at this meeting. There was a good attendance. A donation was made to the Children's Aid Society of Huron County. The Rebekah Degree was conferred on seven new members at this meeting. The annual Christmas party will be held on Dec. 13, the regular meeting night. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting and social time. The immediate family of Ralph Pearson gathered for a family dinnei on Saturday, Nov. 26 celebrate Ralph's 80th birthday. Delicious supper was served 230 Rebekah and Oddfellows Picton, Ont. at their Lodge Hall. Later at the public school, Grand Decore tion and Decoration of Chivair' was presented to Lt. Col. Weldor1 Hardling of Canton #9. Lady Viola Higgs of London Auxiliary #1 from our district IOOF received her pin. Seventeen sisters received their pins. Present were PGM John Broad­ foot of Brucefield Oddfellows, Brigadier General of Patriarch Militant Herb Steffen of Seaforth. Lodge Lady Lois McCutcheon of Brussels Mapleton LEA #12 took part in Lady Auxiliary Matiriark Militant IOOF. Mel McCutcheon GGSL took part in the colour parly. Bill and Gertie Kellington attended. Brussels 4-H club chooses name The third meeting of the Brussels II woodworking club was held on Nov. 17 at the home of Mary Sanders. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and 17 members answered the roll call by showing a wooden item they had brought and why they liked it. After reading the minutes they chose a name for the club, The Woodchucks. The name and picture design was by Lia Sanders. Members then turned the meeting over to Michael Sanders who showed different tools from his workshop and what they were used for. They discussed the difference between the rip-saw and the cross cut saw, back saw and coping saw and different levels and squares. Each member was given a brown paper bag and instructions for the bird house. They had to measure and draw the pattern pieces on the brown paper. Wilma showed how to cut out the pattern pieces on wood with the jig saw. They brought out their sanded apples and applied a coat of scaler to them. The meeting closed with the 4-H motto and refreshments. Ark lights Tree of Hope, Dec. 18 everyone is invited to visit lhe Ark for the tree lighting ceremony. Rev. Cam McMillan of Brussels United Church will begin things with a brief message at 6 p.m. Participants can ring in the season with Christ­ mas carols. For $2 a single or $15 a string, individuals, organizations or busi­ nesses can purchase a light or lights as a unique gift for family or friends or as a memorial tribute to a loved one. The names, for whom the lights are purchased will be posted at The Ark and will be listed on the local cable channel. On Sunday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. T. Cardiff hosts WMS meeting The November meeting of Melville WMS was held at the home of Thelma Cardiff. Helen Elliott was the leader. She welcomed the members and opened the meeting with a prayer. The hymn, Beneath the Shadows of the Cross was sung. This was followed by a selection from "Living Faith" read in unison. Helen gave the message based on brotherly love and service. Ruby Stciss led in prayer. After the roll call, the hymn Lord, Speak to Me, that I May Speak in Living Echoes of Thy Tone was sung. The business period of the meeting was conducted by the president, after which the hymn Go Labour On was sung and the ' Mizpah Benediction repeated, which closed the meeting.
