Several visitors attended from Auburn, Belgrave and Clinton. President Bonnie Shannon greeted the guests. Mary Walden and Feme McDowell were the ushers. Bonnie led the worship and Mrs. Shirley Johnson of London read two scriptures from Genesis and Romans. Mrs. Christa Cameron of Blyth rendered a lovely solo The Gift of Love with Barb Bosman accompanying her on the piano. Bonnie introduced the guest speaker, her niece, Kari Johnson of London. Kari had spent a year in Africa recently as part of her studies at Bible College in Lindsay. It was a wonderful learning experience for her, she said. She visited different churches, visited campgrounds and worked with the children. She also worked at dispensaries and helped with the sick people and babies. She showed slides of very beautiful scenery as well as the largest valley in the world called the Rift Valley. It was very dry there. Some of the tribes live in huts made of mud, sticks and cow manure. She said she tried many kinds of meat, but enjoyed the camel meat the best. She told us she visited many ladies’ groups and said the money the UCW sends is being used to build schools. The culture was very different. Men had several wives and many children, which they felt brought them riches. She said she was happy to have had the opportunity and experience. She felt God had protected her both healthwise and from other harms which could happen in a strange country. She brought back many articles for the group to see and explained what they were used for. It was a very informative time and everyone present enjoyed it very mucn. Lunch was served in he church hall following the meeting. 5 tables at Blyth euchre Five tables of lost heir were in play at Blyth Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening. Winners were: high lady, Mabie Riley; high gent, Anna Snell; low lady, Gene Snell; low gent, Diane Raynard. Everyone is welcome again next Wednesday evening.
