All of the students from Grades 4 to 6 that played had a lot of fun. There were three teams - The Fire Birds, The Falcons and The Eagles. All of the teams played extremely well and they improved in their skills. After the Intramural soccer was almost done there was a junior girls and boys soccer tournament at the Huron Centennial Public School. The junior boys team placed fifth at Huron Centennial playing very well. The girls junior soccer team placed fourth and they too played extremely well. The girls junior soccer team placed fourth and they too played extremely well. There were six teams that entered. As a result, everyone had a lol of fun. INTERMEDIATE SOCCER By Nathan Hubbard We have soccer practices after school on the chosen dates. We have 21 people trying out; only 15 will make the team. We don't know who will be cut yet, but we will have a good team this year. I am trying out for goalie and defence. The tournament is on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The tournament is held at Huron Centennial. Grade 7 and 8s thank Mrs. Battyc and Mr. Harrison for taking the lime to coach the teams and do intramurals. THRESHERS By Jamie Black On Sept. 9 our class went up to the Threshermen's Reunion. We walked around and looked al the exhibits. Most of the exhibits were the same as last year's steam engines, old tractors, antiques, and more. This year it seemed like there were more campers and less exhibits. The following Tuesday, our class went and cleaned up the fairgrounds. TECH 21 By Greg Cullen Mr. Martin, a high school teacher, came last week to talk to us about a new program called Tech 21. The program sounds like a lot of fun and hard work. I am looking forward to going. N7A 1M2 GRADE 7 At the beginning of the year, the Grade 7 class was packed full with 37 students. With the Grade 8 class only with 20 students, the teachers decided to split the Grade 7 class, pulling seven students in Grade 8. GRADE 7/8 By Christine Lapp Last Friday Mr. Talbot's Grade 7/8s went to the bush behind Carey Elliott's house. To start off the day we walked back to the bush. Then from 10 - 11:30 we set up our camp, gathered wood and completed the tree identification. At 11:30 we started to make our camp fires and cook our food. We had a socializing time as well. After lunch we did a stream study until 2:30. At 2:30 we cleaned up the sites and we returned to the school by 3:30 to go home on the bus. OPEN HOUSE There was an open house at the Hullett Central Public School on Wednesday, Sept. 21. There was a barbecue. Students served hot dogs, com on the cob and donuts. The parents got a chance to look at the classrooms, talk to teachers and see school facilities. They also had a chance to look at the book fair that was at our school. It was all a great success. CROSS COUNTRY Students have started cross country training. The cross country runners have been busy in group training and individual training. They have a school race once a week. Here are the top two runners in each division and overall for the last race: Midget girls - Kelly Van Baaren, Lindsey Howitt; boys - Tyler Dalton, Tom Bolinger; junior girls - Melissa Snell, Leanne Jamieson; boys - Matt Anderson, Blair Trewartha; intermediate girls - Becky Archambault, Jennifer Van Baaren; boys - Ben Bolinger, Mike Lyon; senior girls - Carey Elliott, Hanna Huizinga; boys - Chris Dunbar, Darryl Postma; overall girls - Carey Elliott, Becky Archambault; boys - Ben Bolinger, Matt Anderson. The cross country meet will be held on Oct. 19 at Hullett Central Public School. KINDERGARTEN Hullett Central PS has two new kindergarten classes for the 94/95 school year. Mrs. Bosman's A class has 18 students and Mrs. Kemp's B class has 19 students.
