Grey Central Echo Students march in parade with ‘buddies’ Grey Central enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the Brussels Fair. Since we adopted “The Year of the Family” as our theme, many of us marched with our reading buddies. A reading buddy is an older child who has been paired with a younger child for the purpose of sharing a reading activity once a week. Mr. Garland and Mr. Statia spent three days at a Peer Mediation workshop. Soon we will be introducing this program at our school. This one is mine, Mom Lindsay Fritz points out her handwork to Mom Darlene at Blyth PS parent night on Sept. 20. Brothers Travis and Scottie don't seem very interested in Lindsay's work. We would appreciate any book donations. MR. BRAUN By Christianne Neville Mr. Braun came from Exeter Public, where he taught Grade 7 and 8 in a self-contained classroom (special ed). He was there for one year. His assignment here al Grey is a Blyth students study snails GRADE 1/2 By Stephanie Sanderson We looked at the trees on the playground. We learned the names of the trees. We found the seeds of the trees. We are looking for different seeds. GRADE 2/3 Grade 2/3 has been learning about snails. We have watched them make slime trails, eat, sleep and climb. Grade 2/3 has now got a friendship tree in their room. They are covering it with lots of warm fuzzies. GRADE 8 ART AND FRENCH Grade 8 students have produced Grade 7/8 split class. The first impressions of our school was that the renovations were very up to date. Mr. Braun went to the University of Waterloo some marvellous sunflower paintings which are on display in the corridor. They are now working on posters to enter into the Board of Education’s Ethnicultural Poster Competition. Posters are to represent each student’s unique cultural background. French studies are also well on their way. Grade 5’s are also picking up quickly and have been learning numbers, colours and basic expressions of greetings. Grade 5’s are working with a new program and are making excellent progress there! Mrs. Laurie was pleased to see a supportive group of parents and students in the French class on Open House Night. and the University of Windsor for two years.
