Bulls split with Erin
WOAA expands to 21 teams
The Brussels Bulls ended their
exhibition schedule Saturday with a
record of three and one. The Bulls
split a pair of games with the Erin
Sabres of the Mid-Ontario Junior C
League on the weekend.
Friday night the Bulls travelled to
Erin and came home with a 6 - I
victory. Brian Zabel and Nate
Bender paced the attack with two
goals each. Bender also set up two
goals while linemate Greg
McNevan picked up three assists.
Ryan Wright and Brandon Alviano
also picked up goals. Ryan Fisk
and Ryan Sanders split the
goaltending duties.
Saturday afternoon the Bulls
came out of the gate slowly giving
up a goal to Erin in the first 15
seconds. While the locals stayed
close for much of the game the
Sabres went home with an 8 - 5
victory. Peter Ryter scored twice
for the Bulls plus added an assist.
Nate Bender, Pete Mulder and
Brandon Alviano also found the
net. Sanders, Fisk and Jamie
Thomas each played a period
between the pipes.
Coach Scott Pettigrew said, “We
may have been a little over
confident after winning three
straight. I hope they realize you
have to come to the rink prepared
to play because with the parity in
our league this year anyone can
beat anyone.”
The Bulls will open the regular
season Saturday night at 8:30 in
Wingham against the Ironmen.
