AuburnTine news from UCW views Adam, Eve film The September meeting of Londesboro UCW was held on Monday evening, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. Compiled by Mildred Lawlor Phone 526-7589 The meeting opened with the purpose of the United Church womcn. The president read a poem. "My Purpose". The minutes of the June meeting were read and seconded by Helen Lee. The treasurer's report was given by Dorothy Tamblyn. M. Baan speaks at Knox The speaker for Knox United Church was Mr. Martin Baan of the Gideon Bible Society. Bernice Gross was organist. The invitation to worship was repeated in unison and the opening chorus was Come Christians Join to Sing. Mr. Baan gave the prayers and the hymn Tell me the Stories of Jesus was sung. Mr. Baan had conversation with the children and the children's chorus was sung. Hymn Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing was sung. Mr. Baan read the scriptures and hymn Wonderful Words of Life was sung. Mr. Baan's message was "The Gideon Bible Society." He gave the prayers of thanks and intercession and The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. The offering was received by Peter Verbeck and Bob Worscll and for Church School brought forward by Becky Archambault and Shana Dunbar, then dedicated in song. The closing hymn was / Love to Tell the Story and the singing of "Amons" concluded the service. Next Sunday, the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism will be celebrated. LondesboroTine news from [Compiled by June Fothergill Phone 523-4360 Silver Tops hold dinner On Wednesday, Sept. 21 the Auburn Silver Tops held their pot luck dinner and meeting at the Community Hall with 24 present. After dinner Tom Cunningham introduced the speaker, OPP officer Paul Graf, who spoke on Commun­ ity Policing. He stated that two or three people go to their township meeting to talk about such things as vandalism, mischief of yards, mail boxes, etc. There was an invitation to "Fun Day" at Dungannon Seniors on Saturday, Oct. 22. For each meeting Bernice Anderson, Ethel Ball and Tena Empey are to plan kitchen details and Ell Lapp, Ruth Jardin and Phyllis Rodger will plan the program. Euchre games will begin Tuesday evening following Thanksgiving. The Fall Rally will be on Oct. 13 in Seaforth. Dorothy Grange and Tom Cunningham spoke on CHuMS, (Central Huron Mobility Service) a transit service for those who have no way of getting out. In the future, the Silver Tops will try to do something to raise money for this very worthwhile project. L. Lyon reads poem to Cheerio The September meeting of Cheerio Club was held on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 21. ■ The meeting began with lunch at the J and J Fireside Cafe near Wingham and then proceeded to the home of Ora Bruce at Belgrave. Ora welcomed everyone. The minutes of the August meeting were read and approved by Beth Knox. A letter to her son was Balance as of Sept. 19 was $1,656.41. The October Thanksgiving meet­ ing is on Oct. 17. Oct. 3, it's the Fall Rally al Goshen. Blyth UCW Thankoffering is on Nov. 6 al 2:30 p.m. Worship service was conducted by Joan Whyte, Florence Cart­ wright and June Fothergill. A minute for missions was read. The service opened with the hymn Abide with Me. A film on Adam and Eve was shown and commented on. Florence closed wit-h a poem, "From the Garden". Lunch was served by Linda Horbanuik and Kittie MacGregor. 4-Hers choose executive By Tania Losereit The Auburn 4-H club held its first meeting for the project drama on Sept. 17 al the home of Mrs. Helen Lapp. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge. We had to choose a play that we would like to present. The club's choice of play is called "Badlands Ballyhoo". Then an election of officers was held. The results were: president, Paul Huizinga; vice-president, Shelly Dobie; secretary, Hannah Huizinga; press reporter, Tania Losereit. Our leader is Helen Lapp and the youth leaders are Keith King and Pauline Huizinga. Next, we did some acting games and found out some interesting ways to begin a conversation. The second meeting for the Auburn 4-H club was held on Saturday, Sept. 24. We picked a name for the club, Dueling Dramatics. We also picked a new play called "Love Seeks Away". We played some more games. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 1 at 10 at Helen Lapp’s. The fellowship committee will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the manse. Community extends sympathy The sympathy of the community is extended to Frank and Dorothy Johnston and family and Geraldine Dale and family on the passing of their father and father-in-law, Robert Johnston of Huronview. Friends will be glad to hear Clara Riley has returned home from Clinton Hospital. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
