Event has sights, sounds of the past
Bygone times
Like most of the sights and sounds at the Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion, the threshing
demonstrations are reminiscent of another era.
Crafts galore
For those wishing to get out of the warm September sun
this past weekend, the arena was filled with crafts and gift
items which ranged from glassware and wood carvings to
saw blade paintings and homemade salsa sauce.
Keeping a careful eye Tying the knot
Wilbert Phillippi keeps a watchful eye on the log as it
approaches the large blade which will cut it into several
planks. The sawmill is run completely by steam engines.
Going piggy back
Although only three antique trucks were on display for the
new class at this year’s Thresher Reunion, organizers are
pleased with the showing.
The Thresher Reunion and hobby Show provide activities for the young and young at heart
aside from watching the steam engines. Bag tying was just one of the events some of the
veterans of the sport took part in.
For Sunday drivers
The antique automobiles on display at the Thresher Reunion bring back some memories for a
lot of the people in attendance. Though they’re not much for speed their nostalgic appeal is
classic.
